A Good Rokh Fit

Does anyone happen to have one? I happen to like gunboats like the Rokh, and I found a nice one for pve called the Brickursion over at Battleclinic, and I rather like it. Except for one small problem. The capacitor on these ships runs out at an extreme rate... is there anyway to circumvent it? Willing to cut corners on the low slots to boost the cap up.

Much thanks ahead of time. Big smile

That fit needs a Logi around, so for mission PVE its useless. So before we help you with getting a good fit, what do you plan to use it for?

Because since the one you linked is for incursions only, in which you can get remote cap transfers as well.

So do you wanna do normal missions or PVP then this fit is bad. If you want to do incursions then there isn't that much wrong with the fit you already linked...

Something along these lines should do you though you might want Hobs I find Hammers take care of most Frigs fine if not taking slightly longer.

I suppose that the Rokh can not host a shield tank and hardeners and hold a steady capacitor at the same time, correct?

It can with the Cap Booster. Long enough to murder everything at least.

If you don't mind me expanding upon this... is it worth sacrificing some damage in the low power slots to extend cap life with modules, or to tear out a shield extender to add a capacitor battery?

Thank you in advance for your advice.

Quick heads up, there's a lot of difference between and incursion fit and a mission fit, mostly due to the presense of dedicated logistics ships in an incursion fleet and the fact mission rats do less damage.

That Brickursion fit has a large buffer because incursion rats do a great deal of damage in a very short amount of time, much more than in any mission. The bufffer keeps the rokh alive long enough for friendly reps to be applied, otherwise it might be blown off the field before the logistics pilots can lock and start applying reps. It doesn't give much thought to cap because if it runs out then the rokh pilot calls for more cap from the logisitcs ships to bail it out (sometimes even other battleships will carry energy transfers in their utility highs to help fleet mates with cap issues).

A mission rokh on the other hand has to sort it's own local tank out and provide cap for itself. X-large or large shield booster is the most common choice and a cap booster sorts out cap. Alara's fit work well. If you only turn the tank on when necessary you find cap isn't too much of an issue and if you do run into trouble then hit the cap booster. Cap 800 charges work best. If you load the booster before you leave station and then carry 14 or 15 more in the cargohold then you can last for about 5 minutes with everything going before you run out of charges and you cap out. Just running the guns you'll only need to pop a cap booster occasionally if you're firing constantly.

You find in all types of PvE it's better to rep damage than simply have a huge buffer because where's a small PvP fight could be over in less than a minute, missions last much longer and any buffer can be worn through by NPCs given enough time. The difference is mission fits run a local tank and sore their own cap out but incursion fits rely on external logistics to rep damage and restore cap.

In missions, you can try and use cap rechargers, capacitor battories and cap control circuits to run everything on your ships natural cap recharge but I wouldn't recommend it. Same with swapping out damage. The general idea is the cap booster keeps your tank going through the worst of the damage and by the time you run out of charges you should have killed most of the rats on grid so you don't need to perma-run the boosters.

On that note, try and avoid fighting guristas or if you do then take out their jamming ships as fast as possible. Being jammed means that your both not killing the enemy and having to tank heavier damage for longer, both of which are very bad for cap-boosted setups.

Tl;dr
Brickursion is a good incursion fit, Alara Ionstorm's is a good mission fit.
An incursion fit won't survive missions because it has no way of regenerating its tank or cap and a mission ship won't survive in incursions because the incrursion rats do too much damage to self rep and a non-buffered rokh doesn't have enough Effective Hit Points.

P.S. In response to this

"If you don't mind me expanding upon this... is it worth sacrificing some damage in the low power slots to extend cap life with modules, or to tear out a shield extender to add a capacitor battery?"

If you were thinking of taking this in incursions, cap recharge isn't important. Call for one of the logisitics ships to bail you out if you really need cap. If in a mission, those extenders shouldn't be on there anyway. Refer to my comment and Alara's fit.

Alternatively, you could drop either the shield extender or the Invul Field for a boost amplifier.

That incursion rokh fit is terrible(unless you're doing HQs), if you want an incursion setup for vanguards:

[Rokh, Incursion Rokh]

Shadow Serpentis Magnetic Field Stabilizer
Shadow Serpentis Magnetic Field Stabilizer

This does 731 DPS which is only 90 DPS short of a mega pulse nightmare using scorch, so it will get invited to at least semi competitive fleets!

And for level 4s:
