Im currently running a Tengu with 1100 dps omni tank and 700 firepower. I do 4's at a decent pace, but Im looking to increase the pace.
My current plan was a Nightmare, but Ive been told that it doesnt shine in 4's alone, more in nullsec ratting areas.

So my question is now, what ship would excel more then a Tengu in 4's?

Nightmare. Depends what you're fighting against. In Amarr space it's awesome, cuts through Sansha and Blood Raiders like a knife through hot butter. But against Guristas and Angels it sucks...

I am located in Amarr space, but ofc the occasional guristas/angel missions do come up..

this, its a 100% increase in pace.

I once upon a time had a Kronos, officer web, MWD, 820+ DPS from guns alone, that beast both before and after the buff bests the tengu on lvl4s.

Mach, Vargur, Nightmare.

I don't recommend the Golem.

No, the Golem is out of the question, Im aware of that.
Its most likely gonna be a Nightmare, cause I live in Amarr space and Tengu shines with Kin dmg

Then use a Nightmare for the EM rats and a Tengu for the Guristas/Angels ones.

EDIT: BTW a Nightmare absolutely does shine in L4s. You will notice a close-to 100% increase in your effective DPS vs Sansha/Bloods and a good boost in EoM/Merc missions.

Someone's having a laugh with you mate. In Amarr space, those things are possibly the best thing to own. Yes, you'll need to have good cap management skills but that's the same with anything that can pump out 1000dps with good skills and some faction heat sinks.
It kills rats so quickly, you don't even need that much of a tank. Obviously you'll NEED a tank, but it needn't be stupidly tough because the rats won't be around long enough to be tanked.

And final point: yes. It's MORE than capable of flying solo.

Following that setup and my budget, i'd build this:

[Nightmare, DPS]
Ammatar Navy Heat Sink
Ammatar Navy Heat Sink
Ammatar Navy Heat Sink
Ammatar Navy Heat Sink
Tracking Enhancer II

Caldari Navy Photon Scattering Field
Caldari Navy Heat Dissipation Field
Caldari Navy Invulnerability Field
Gist X-Type Shield Boost Amplifier
Gist X-Type X-Large Shield Booster
Tracking Computer II
Cap Recharger II

Tachyon Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency L
Tachyon Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency L
Tachyon Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency L
Tachyon Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency L
[empty high slot]
[empty high slot]

Large Capacitor Control Circuit I
Large Capacitor Control Circuit I
Large Capacitor Control Circuit II

Hammerhead II x5

Now the cap only lasts 2m 36s but I assume thats plenty, as youll only need a cycle here and there?

You only really need a large repper, x-large is overkill. Also swap out the cap recharger for a cap booster and 800 charges - the way the Nightmare uses cap, that recharger doeesn't actually have much effect. Rats drop 800's all the time therefore will cost you nothing, and there's no reason to moan about carrying extra ammo as the Nightmare uses crystals which take up sod all space. You can get 20 charges in the cargo bay, as well as enough crystals to feed the 5000. If you somehow get through those 20 AND the five already loaded in the booster and still think you need more, you're doing it wrong.
And for that reason I'd say get rid of the T2 CCC, T1 will suffice. If you're still struggling then train moar. The Nightmare is a glorious ship and deserves to be trained up for properly.

Ive made a new setup, slightly different, holds 1150 dps with a 1245 tank - Cap stable! So thats what Im going for. Its expensive, but its worth it..
But before all that, Ive gotta do 2 months of training to make sure I fly it properly.

Thanks for all the input that was serious :)

My last ship loss came when I flew a non-stable ship, and due to my internet cutting out just that once at a unlucky time, I got killed and lost a 2.8 bil ship. In the simple fear of that, I pref running cap stable...

Arrogant much? You really think everyone has to take up all of your suggestions? Is it possible that they might have considered them and decided against them as, well, they don't think they're good for them?

And yet you don't call the OP on his own arrogance Roll there's no point asking for advice if you've already got the answer in your head, and are just waiting for people to come along and give you something that matches your thoughts.

Let's put it this way, the EHP of a Pith Eliminator (Guristas battleship) versus damage is:
* 100% Kin: 24,393
* Phased Plasma ammo: 27,827
* 100% Therm: 28,664
* 100% Expl: 35,306
* IN Multi: 36,789
* 100% EM: 47,058
