even though the orca is made for gang mining, if you need to move in a hurry it works and really the idea behind it is wonderful too but they should do a class that can haul more ships and mad cargo and that would be worth it

please day on topic and any thing dealing with battle clinic in the thread will be reported as a bash on me for reasons that i am not asking for fits or any thing i am just trying to get it out

A militarized orca would be nice. Faster align, bigger maintenance bay, more tank but without any of the mining bonuses and ore bay.

So, basicly you are looking for a real carrier?
That carries players ships only (not drones)

A freighter takes ages to align and its warp speed is only 0.70 AU, you stand watching it painfully align and sit in warp tunnel for all eternity. Ever try flying a freighter through a system more than 60 AU across? Its long boring and painful to see the AU distance very slowly go down.

An orca cannot carry as much as a freighter but with the right fit you can make it move much faster than the freighter.

With max skills and rigs you get a 60,000 m3 cargohold(100,000 m3 with 2 cargo expanders - kills tank though) with a 40,000 m3 corp hangar, along with a 50,000 ore hold, and finally a 400,000 m3 ship maintenance bay.

The best thing about the orca is its unscannable corp hangar and ship maintenance bay, you can put all sorts of valuable items in there and no one will know, unless you tell them. And in the unlikely event that your orca gets blown up, all the stuff in the corp hangar and ship maintenance array are automatically destroyed and does not appear on the killmail.

This discourages any gankers from blowing up an orca or even bother scanning most of the time.

With a reinforced bulkhead and Damage control you reach 220,000 ehp, which is the equivalent of a freighter, with a shield tank you can reach 280,000.

Finally you can make the orca warp in ten seconds using the mwd trick. You need to fit a 100mn tech 1 or named mwd to do so, which requires you to have engineering V and fit a PG8 hardwiring implant. an alternate would be to buy a storyline 100 mwd, but those cost quite a bit and very few are sold.

The mwd trick is great for any ship that take a long time to warp, for the orca you initiate warp, then turn on your mwd for 1 cycle -set auto repeat off. When the mwd cycle ends, your orca will reach the speed needed to warp and warp right away.

Since the orca has poor armor tank you can opt for cargo optimization rigs.

Use the freighter only when you need to haul a huge amount of stuff. For smaller and expensive cargo use the orca.

but as for hauling assembled ships the orca is good but i would like to keep at least to mid size ships in the mainince bay like a hulk and a salvage ship then that would be nice

I would definetly want to buy a highsec "carrier" that has no link bonuses or fighters etc

Just proper tank and ability to handle base moving logistics ... incursion runners come to mind as one group of customers. Maitenance bay worth of 3 Battleships for example.

Oh hey, aren't you the guy who made that rather poor fitting on Battleclinic and when told in a constructive fashion why it was so bad, you made a 10 minute video telling them how you didn't care about their opinion? You obviously cared enough to make that video and to threaten us with a reporting if we dare mention the incident... Roll

If you want to move an Orca quicker, fit nano mods or i-stabs, with rigs that support alignment times. Otherwise put your ships into contracts and move them via freighter with an alt following it to web it.
Seriously.

Orca + Gurista Ships is pure win!

They are small and you can fit a worm/gila/noctis in an orca and use it as your mission helpers.

Great for running L4's in all areas and opening up new corps. You only have to move your BS and the Orca. Idea

It's already great and holds a lot if you use it well. Lol

This is what i think.

The Tech 1 orca is great. Massive for mining in gangs and everything, can carry loads more ore than a regular orca and make ganking harder for anyone, you can also refit your ship in space, switch to a pvp ship if some idiot comes to uor belt to kill ya.

Yes it is really usefull and increaes anyones mining yield by LOADS.

However, the orca has a small ship bay, and ther is no ship that can as yet go high sec with a ship bay and carry bs for you acros systems.

If you want to move systems like 15 jumps it takes forever to go and grab the rest of your fitted battleships, thats 30 jumps a trip. In a battleship that takes forever, and if you have more than one of them then it is a real long trip, not to mention you have other ships to fly.

Therefore we need a tech 2 orca. One that can go high sec, use gates and has a massive ship bay. Doesnt need a massive cargo, just a big ship bay.

What we need is like a 1.5 mill ship bay, maybe a 10k m3 cargo and then no drone space (it is only for hauling) and no corp hangar. Then we can put maybe a cloak in the highs and stabs in the lows and things like that. This would make moving them rigged bs 15 jumps even easyer when we need to move.

Ive lost many hours of mining and missioning from haviong to move ships when i move systems to another one because i need better minerals.

What do you guys think about brining in a t2 orca like said above.
