Epic indeed Lol I respect what he did there, if only more parents were that... oh well, let's hope it is the start of a new trend.

Terrible parenting, all he did was show her that its acceptable to have a temper tantrum and destroy things if you dislike something somebody did. The daughters behaviour was pretty normal, shooting things in temper is not.

Taking it off her and making her buy her own would have been more constructive.

Lol The father is just like the daughter, but in the position of power in their relationship. She(like a typical teenager) crossed a line that she would have been better off not crossing and the father returned the favor and as a bonus humiliated her publicly. He certainly got back at her, but at the cost of doing permanent damage to the relationship with his daughter. Hope his little tantrum was worth it in the long run.

This is a "This is your place, stay in it you ****," type of deal; Not an attempt to improve their relationship. If anything, I believe he was aiming to harm, as he mentioned quite a few times that life was about to get a whole lot harder.

What would be awesome, is if he left the laptop on her desk for her to find.

I'd hardly call that permanent. My mother can fart out worse than that and we've still been able to reconcile after 8 years. He gives her a roof over her head, feeds her, puts clothes on her back, and spends a butt load of money to fix her laptop that he also paid for, and she's unhappy because she has to do some chores around the house. Cry me a river. Anytime my parents ask for help I'm Johnny on the spot because it's the least I can do for all they've given me.

I'd go for 12 ga. buckshot, that would add that explosive coming apart effect that pleases me Bear

Good to see a life means less to you than a pile of metal and plastic that only lasts an average of 4 years anyways.

Yes, 12 guage would do nicely in a situation like this. Father could have saved himself 6 shots and left a much larger hole right in the middle.

Between inane video blogging and black people taping random violence for giggles. I think we can all agree that commonly affordable camcorders were a step in the wrong direction.

So... how did daddy-who-works-in-IT get a hold of the daughter's facebook post(s)? If the daughter actually gets a job then maybe she can get a lawyer a pursue a case against her father for accessing her facebook account illegally?

Something tells me she wouldn't make it on her own. Sweeping, wiping, making bed, and doing her own laundry is too much for her so I'd love to see her handle 40+ hours a week working, doing all those same chores plus more, paying bills, making sure whatever vehicle she has is maintained properly, maintaining a house....

I bet it was super complicated. She probably set up her facebook to log in automatically (as a home page) and he probably accessed the internet to download something while he was working on it. And like any good parent, I'm sure he didn't want to pass up the chance to peek into his daughters life, whom he is still responsible for at least until she is 18, to make sure she isn't doing anything stupid.

Seriously. Shooting a laptop? For a Facebook post?

When I was 14 years old, I played Rage Against The Machine's "**** You I won't Do What You Tell Me" sa loud as I could after an argument with my Mum.

She didn't come into my room and blow up my stereo.

We sat down and she told me that she was pretty pissed at my reaction. We talked it through and that was the end of it.

This **** is what makes some people slightly worried about Americans.

Whilst it made me laugh - I am not sure it was for the reason somebody put it out there.

Edit - appears the "obfuscation of commonly used adult language" filter has been turned up a bit

Aaaaaaand relax.

Ofcourse she would. She would have trouble adjusting to things, but after that short initial period she would be just fine and propably enjoying her life much more than she does now. You're taking a typical rebelling teenager who feels she is just doing things for other people, for reasons that she doesn't really care about and is used to comforts and being taken care of, to meaning she is simply incapable of taking any responsibility or work hard in any situation.

I assume you were a teen once and knew people who didn't appreciate how good things were for them, who hated chores, who felt they had little control in what they were currently doing, who went against the flow just because, who hated school and studying, but their parents forced them to go and heard all kinds of other complaints, that seemed very important then, but are ridiculous when you look at them now from a more objective perspective of an adult. I can count myself and all who I knew as a teen in one of those categories and every one of us grew up to be normal responsible adults.

I knew some! 2 went to prison before graduating high school, 1 became homeless and is probably dead, 1 girl I know disappeared, and I buggered off to the Marines. Cool

A friend of mine from middle school graduated university at age 17 and probably has a Phd or 3 by now but he had a good life at home (kinda). Crazy overbearing christian mother...
