Mac Client Won't Even Start up

OK, I'm not sure if it was the latest client update, or OS X 10.7.3, but as of late last week, no matter what I do, the EVE Mac client won't even start up. I see the splash screen, and the usual two EVE icons in the dock. Then the splash goes away, as does one of the icons in the dock. After that, nothing. If I right click on the remaining icon in the dock, sometimes it will be hung enough to already say "Force Quit", sometimes I have to use the option key to get "Force Quit" to come up, because the normal Quit doesn't do anything.

I have a pretty high spec MacBook Pro, and up until last week, the client had been running great, except for the usual dance of having to start and force quit the client a few times before it works that seems to be fairly common.

1GB AMD Radeon HD 6750M

Anyone have any thoughts?

Had the same problem. I tried to do a fresh installs of EVE but that didn't work. I think that the issue is in the preferance folder but I couldn't locate that so I gave up. After a few days of trying I just wiped my hard drive and started over.

I am having the same issue aswell.

I am using a late 2010 15" Macbook pro with 2.66GHz Core i7 and 8GB of RAM, Running OSX 10.6.8, with all the latest system updates installed (with the exception of Lion).

I have tried removing the preferences folder's but this has given no change. Splash screen for eve online crucible appears and then disappears as normal, but when the actual client is meant to appear, nothing happens. This causes the entire system to become "Laggy" and everything seems very delayed. I also have the iStat menus installed (found here: http://bjango.com/mac/istatmenus/) and if im reading it correct, while attempting to launch eve and in this "laggy" and delayed state it is only using up around ~40% of the cpu.

Hope this helps and would love if a solution is found asap.

Having the same problem on a late 2010 15" MBP with 2.5GHz Intel Core i5 / 6GB RAM. Please help!

EDIT: I seem to have found the fix to this. What you do is go to Finder -> *your username* -> Library -> Application Data, find a folder named "EVE Online" and rename it to something other than that. Then launch EVE again and it should work (did for me). Be careful though as this will reset all your settings, overview and preferences.

See my post above, it fixed the issue for me. I was experiencing the same thing on 2 different MBPs.

Totally same issue here. Reinstalled everything, cleared EVE from Library and everything, but it won't start at all.

You need to remove the eve file from the hidden "application support" folder. Look up how to find this folder. It is hidden in Lion. Removing the eve file there clears the error. Then reinstall the game.

Alternatively use terminal ~

cd ~/Library/Application\ Support/
rm -r EVE\ Online/

When the game is reinstalled it will take awhile to start due to the game recreating the application support folder. Don't freak out if this takes a minute or so. I have not determined if you can delete the application support folder without deleting the game itself and still avoid the error.

Good to go.

Well, i did it! It worked!

I think the easiest way to find the hidden folder in Lion is with the 'Go to folder' command (cmd+shift+G), in 'Go' menu in Finder
Then go to "/Users/(name of user)/Library/Application Support/" and delete the 'EVE Online' folder.
