So what kind of experience do you actually bring to the table? It's all well and good if you are a reasonable person who understands some things and represents people and stuff, but we only have your word for it.

Been playing since 2008

Missioneer, blogger, I have mined and lived in wormholes (currently a C5), I have run incursions since they started. I worked with OUCH and completed their lowsec courses, I have lived in null as part of SIRadio. I have been on roams with the Bastards and been shot down during player events . . . laughing the whole time. I play this game to have fun, to try new things.

There are tons of things I have not done in the game but I think I have a fair handle on some of it.

Things I am willing to admit I don't know enough about:
Faction Warfare (When everybody tells me it is broken this does not make me want to even try it)
Null sov
Moon mining (not a clue)
Large scale battles of more than 150 a side (except for one live event)

I don't claim to know it all . . . but I do claim to be able to learn, to listen.

What I am curious about is do you want someone who is all set to push his own agenda and hope that he feels the same way you do about everything? Or would you prefer someone who still understands what represent means?

Do I have opinions on how things might be better? Yes. Ask a specific question and I will try for a specific answer.

For instance Marc Scaurus asked me if I agreed that Fleet Wars could be a test bed for new sov mechanics.

NO

No more than they should put some tech moons up in hisec so we can try new mechanics for them before releasing the new version to null.

specific questions? fire away

Specific questions, ok. This one's sort of specific.

The higher security level you go into, the more complicated the mechanics of combat become; they are dizzyingly complex in hisec, I am still testing and finding new things out even now. For example, tonight I learned that if you are fighting a corporation member and he is repped by a neutral, clicking through CONCORD is NOT safe until the timer actually appears (which is only after a session change).

Are there any particular mechanics you would like to see changed in low or high security space? What would be a change that could make PVP in hisec or lowsec more attractive to you, or more likely for you to recommend it to someone you know that is just starting out?

Aggro mechanics are complex and I agree with your assessement that the higher up you go in security the more byzantine they become. partially because the more active gamers find loopholes or ways to circumvent them

Do I want to close all the loopholes? Make it so0.9-1.0 space is totally safe? nope

What I would like is for them to make sense so a new player coming along had a hope in hell of knowing what the logical consequences of his actions would be through common sense.

Seeing as you are running, Iam, I could turn it back to you and ask what your prroposals were . . . are you looking to make Concord less or more active as a police force?

I just want it to make sense and to make the graded scale of security mean more than response time for Concord to react.

Hi Mike, +1 for you.

Do you also agree that the CSM should be re-vamped with the purpose of getting the EvE playerbase more envolved with the game and CSM processes?

With an other purpose being, that the CSM does not feel "lobsided" meaning there is a voice from a broader spectrum of players (new players upto vet players & from every corner of New Eden) So the game will be looked at from many more angles?

Once you think you have it all, you have actually become ignorant towards everything else.

It is not the CSM directly that would more involve the player base but rather things that CCP could do to help. Aside from offering 'free stuff' for voting, though (which would just decrease the signal:noise ratio) I cannot see a lot of ways that we can FORCE folks to educate themselves well enough to actually give a sh*t about the process as a whole.

Ask in any local how folks are gonna vote in the election and you will get
a) answers about Obama
b) proclamations that they never vote
c) questions about 'what election'
d) statements about what a scam the whole thing is

what you won't get is well reasoned or impassioned commentary about the candidates or platforms or any initiatives that folks would like to see come to pass

sadly

These are the people I am trying to represent.

As to making the CSM a more broad representation . . . I have yet to see any way that can be done that cannot be 'gamed' or manipulated b a well organized group of players. Until I see something that would pass my 'Goon test' I have no suggestions in the matter.

I would argue that, when looking at thread like "i want your little things" by a CCP dev, you actually do see a much broader spectrum of players actually responding to that with very interesting takes on the game EvE-Online.
I am pretty sure they dont mind going backt to a thread where their ideas (not all but the reasonable ones) are discussed.

I also think they would not mind at all to actually attend a online roundtable to discuss it.

Think about it, it could actually be a criteria to invite players to a, say monthly, online roundtable with CCP Devs.
It could still be called CSM, but there would not be any fixed positions.

This would entice to actually come up with ideas, i.e. CCP will see more interaction.
The job of the elected CSM would just be organizing these roundtables, publishing notes, answer questions on forums and discuss focal points with CCP. It will actually be "random" players discussing teh focal points.

This way, it can not be gamed either imo, since the player has to come up with an idea first and it can be any player before being invited to an roundtable.

And ofcourse it needs further investigation on what criteria to use on the selection.

Once you think you have it all, you have actually become ignorant towards everything else.

Do you have any comment on the mudslinging that is going on in other threads?

Who would you like to see lose. Who would you like to see win?

I don't want to say who I like among the candidates until all are registered at the end of the nomination period.

What I think people should be looking for is

1) someone who can work with others
2) someone who can represent their views of understands their part of the game
3) someone who communicates well

The current drama in threads about darius and riverini are examples you should take to heart.

do NOT choose someone because they are disliked by someone else.

Vote FOR something, not against

oh . . .

1) I can work well with people
2) I am a probably best described as a hardcore casual carebear. see other posts for my experience
3) I write, a lot, I teach (for a living) communication is what I do

so maybe I am, by the above standards, the right person for you?
