This needs to happen so bad it drives me to tears. I'm totally WiS but after seeing that mockup I'm a lot more worried about spaceships again.

Sure, some customization would be nice but people would abuse it and in no time we would have drakes covered in pictures of penises... Which could ruin the sci fi simulations side of the game.

One thing i would like to see is corp logo's printed on every ship made by a corp member. This may create a brand culture in eve where people would be willing to pay a little more so that they can have a ship with a PL or Goon logo on for example.

The wishlist is pretty much complete...

There are ways to control that you know/

I don't know, looking historically there have been times when gaudy colors were the norm (the 80's and art from prosperous empires) and penises or phallic designs have been not only appreciated but worshiped.

If we can have the Thorax, why can't we have pictures of penises on our ships? It might just be, like, the in thing in New Eden!

IMO, even if they don't implement ship skins, they should make this the gallente navy standard skin. That looks awesome as hell.

This smells like trollfood. And I'd have to say that I like my ship the colour it is. Means I can blend into a crowd. I don't trust any of you, and the less of a big tie-dyed target I am the better. However, corp/alliance bumper stickers would work for me. I mean, if you're pushing for shed loads of detail, colours and the like, what's to say you can't get the paint scratched? Any of you had your car scratched or keyed? Imagine the cost of touching up your pretty pink ships... Painting your ship in your own colours turns it into a showpiece most people would be too scared to undock in. No thanks.

I'd like to see something like a corp-wide thing so each NPC corp has it's own theme for starting players, and it would cut down on "visual griefing" potential if a whole corporation had to agree on something. Also, it could mitigate server/client work by having a common style among many ships. Not least of all, you could just see a ship and say "That's a PIE/Goon/Whatever ship."

That way, even if a whole corporation decided to go with bright yellow and pink in a silly attempt to offend anyone, it'd only make it that much easier to shoot them.

ICly, it just makes more sense to share a design and it offers a better sense of fraternity.

What could also be interesting is an alliance/militia defines one part of the style and then the corporation defines another part to provide both a common and distinctive design.

Yes, I support this, however there needs to be some limitations. As stated, this change could very much see EVE lose it's "Super Seriousness" in place of Neon Pink ships plastered with Pony pictures running all over the place.

You guys complaining about penis-potential DO realize they could just make people choose from a pre-generated list of symbols and patterns, right?

I don't think anyone is touting APB-levels of customization here, just SOME customization, more than we have right now (re: NOTHING AT ALL).

On a note of more substance (not really), I'm definitely pro customization because come on, why is everyone who's flying a hull A supposed to look nearly identical to everyone else flying hull A, excepting perhaps turrets.

I'm also definitely anti any trendy meme **** on ships like Hello Kitty and ponies, plz no. Customization is good but breaking the immersion even further is not so good, save ponies and kitties for forum sigs. If an alliance/corp logo has those images in it then fine, I think it should be okay because then you already have a ******** logo anyone can see by show-infoing you.

Otherwise, moar ship paint please.
