Who the hell is flying the rokh?

The rokh is a pretty solid ship now for fleets and maybe even moderate sized gangs (neutrons plus null gives you 40km range).

A lot of people don't have caldari BS or large hybrids trained yet. There'll probably be more of them used once people get round to that.

We've used Rokhs as the mainstay in one of our fleet doctrines to pretty good success ever since Hybrids got buffed a few months back. They're like Hellcats (pulse Abaddons) except they can hit out to lock range, which adds a lot of versatility. A couple alliances have copied us, but not many, so I'm still surprised they're top 20 in ship kill stats. I'm equally surprised that Huginns are up there considering they are a support ship.

Huginns are great with their webbing and painting bonus, you can pin down targets hard with that thing.

Apparently this guy likes to fly Rokh solo ...

btw, We do give this guy credit as it was a pain in the ass to take down with what we had considering his mods.

If I could load torpedoes into my rail guns, I would do it. Even if they were the most ineffective weapon system ever, all you need to do is hit them just once, for massive ***** and giggles. All I would want, is to see Local light up with lulz.

Raiden. has been using Sniper Rokh fleets with a supporting Tengu fleet against the CFC in Venal/Branch since mid-january, saw a more recent reincarnation of said fleet used by Nulli Secunda/Initiative Mercs, although they were naga's and fit rail guns, they jumped into a hostile gang, and died in a fire...

So I was talking to some goons about Rokh as a fleet ship, and they tell me, lol range is useless, no one would fly rokhs seriuosly in fleet because they are so bad. Looking at the stats, the rokh is now ahead of zealot, the ahac mainstay and someone must be flying them in considerable numbers and there should be a reason for it.

So what is going on? I don't see gangs of rokhs roaming around lowsec/npc null/wh so its gotta be in sov space.

Deep in the bowels of null-sec mixed Rokh/Maelstrom fleets are relatively common. The Rokh has similar tank and higher sustained dps at similar ranges to the Maelstrom and is little more forgiving to fly in a fleet than the Maelstrom because it's easier to fit with a cap booster while sustaining a good tank. Naturally it depends on how you fit them but the Maelstrom is a btch to fly in fleets because you can't move very far without capping out. The Rokh is a little more maneuverable because it can cycle the mwd for longer.

Many fleets use the Maelstrom because of the high-alpha and the need to pretty much insta-pop logistics to get them off the field. When the enemy is coming with 20 or 30 logis in their fleet you can't grind them off the field, you need to insta-kill them. The Rokh can't do that alone in the same numbers as the Maelstrom. However, with enough Maelstroms in fleet, the Rokh is a good addition for sustained engagements and especially ones where fleets have to maneuver around the battlefield.

Also it's true that Goons don't use them. Their fleet doctrine depends entirely on alpha power.... It's a choice but it doesn't mean that other choices are worthless.
