Subtle change to stargate icon in overview to show security.

When I was stuck on a roam going between highsec and lowsec staring at the stargates in my overview for several hours I suddenly thought to myself. Man it would be nice if the icons showed what security the gate went to since this is unfamiliar space.

All I'm referring to is a change to the color of the little triangle in the stargate icons in the overview. Make it the same color as the color assigned to the system it goes to, green, blue, yellow, orange, red ect. That way you could see at a glance, the security of the systems linked to the one you are in without having to completely memorize a complete region of space.

You would leave the circle around the triangle as is so you would still have part of the icon to make yellow for autopilot / navigation purposes.

This is just a simple Idea that I came up with while playing that I know would be at least useful to myself and probably others and thought I would bring the idea up here.

Thanks for your time.

Would be amazing to have this, can't tell you how many times I've lost a frigate while Leeroying the gate into highsec.

Sometimes it's the little things that make a difference.
Hate it for colorblind people though... maybe add 0-9 at the triangle point for those who cannot tell the difference between a green and red triangle?

Great idea Cool

To avoid the problem of simply using colours for the gates leading to different sec levels, they could just add extra triangles pointing in, 3 for high sec, 2 for low and 1 for null and perhaps 4 for starter systems so there's no real excuse for being caught in there baiting new players.

WoW holds your hand until end game, and gives you a cookie whether you win or lose. EVE not only takes your cookie, but laughs at you for bringing one in the first place...

Coloring gate icons is a bad idea. The overview is currently monochrome for a reason: it's easy on the eyes. A simpler solution would be to add a confirmation pop-up if you an outlaw jumping into hisec (similar to the already existing pop-up for jumping into low/nullsec).

There's no use crying after every mistake, you just keep on trying 'til you run out of cake.

Like I said its just an idea.

Those of us that would use it most likely have had the "jump into lowsec" warning disabled a long time ago since we constantly go in and out of low/null and high security space. I personally know a few corp mates that got lost and accidentally followed the fleet into 1.0 (blue) with a sec status that made them a tad unwelcome. If they would have saw that it lead to 1.0 it wouldn't have happened.

Its just something that would help a little when setting a destination isnt exactly doable. Im aware that in some situations it would be useless like if your out in nullsec or all the surrounding systems are the same sec that your in.

You could complicate it and only color / change the icons for the gates that differ from the one you are in also. That would make it less annoying.

Again, its just an idea since I noticed this system is heavily used everywhere but in the overview and having it there would at least make MY life easier, and a lot of people I know like the idea.

But in the end, it all comes down to the wants plus the needs of the masses divided by how cool or useful the idea seems to the devs, Im just seeing how the majority feels about it and putting the idea out there.
