I'd just like to take a moment, a sidebar if you will, to thank each and every one of you that has hit the "like" button beside my post in the past few days. Thanks to each and every one of you, I now meet the required 100 likes to become a candidate for the CSM; moreover, my likes total has been pushed over 9,000. You may all expect a post about that soon.

What is to stop any other group of people from banding together and having a voice exactly as loud as or louder than the collective voice of Goonswarm? I can think of exactly two things: first, that other groups of people lack the necessary organization or group cohesion to do it; second, that enough other people do not exist. If the first is the case, then one can hardly blame Goonswarm and her allies for being successful. That is generally regarded as a good thing, ya know. If the latter is the case, and literally the voice of Goonswarm is the loudest because there are more of us than there are players in every other group combined, then we honestly deserve to get everything we want because that is how a democracy works. Welcome to the tyranny of the masses.

Hypocrasy is now also officially on record. P

I see no hypocrisy at all in my previous statements and my present platform. In the past, I stated, as you were so kind to quote, "What is to stop any other group of people from banding together and having a voice exactly as loud as or louder than the collective voice of Goonswarm?" The answer to that question is: "Nothing". I am pushing for voting reform so that the present state of affairs, where a single voting bloc is superior to a group of fractious candidates splitting the votes of a much larger numerical majority, shall be changed to reflect a more equitable system. You may look at my previous posts as me speaking as an apologist for the present system, but I believe that you should instead view them in context of my present campaign. That I have the wherewithal to be critical and cynical of the present system is but further evidence that I am trying to change it.

As a long time low sec dweller, these things stick out to me:

Lyris Nairn wrote:

Regarding Low Security Space
  • Oppose the introduction of interdiction bubbles to Low Sec, to preserve its unique gameplay;
  • Address the fact that Low Sec is divided into two classifications, 0.4, and 0.3 and below, with regards to anchorable structures at POS
  • With regards to the above, modify the anchoring requirements for starbase structures, particularly those involved in drug manufacturing, to be anchorable in all low security systems

  • PRESERVE IT'S UNIQUE GAMEPLAY!!! This is very important to me, other low sec dwellers, and CCP if they want to keep me sub'd. High sec changes seem solid as do null sec changes. Are you in support or opposition to bringing sov mechanics to NPC null and/or low sec? This is another (kinda) issue that would affect the unique gameplay of these regions. Personally, I think diversity and dimensionality in game design is what makes the game atttractive and exciting.

    Joe D'Trader wrote:

    Um, NO.
Don't forget that you can assign fighters in 0.3, but not in 0.4. I have heard people pleased with this and wanting to change it in both directions. If you are going to address Low Sec classification differences, I think it's worth a look.

Drugs would be a great way to make low sec more profitable and possibly improve traffic/population, and for real: DRUGS!

Actually I "dislike" what Goons represent, specifically in the way that they comically manipulate the gaming experiences of many and in the process favour themselves with change using underhanded tactics. Its this meta-element that is what I despise. As a paying player, I think I'm entitled to point this out and how infantile they are about it at the same time. And as a result not an influence I would like to see involved with the CSM, I think it deserves better representation.

You sir are what I "dislike" about this game. You are attempting to do exactly what many of the large power blocs do: force your values and play style on everyone else. As a whole, I think goons are jackasses, but they play this game the way they enjoy it. I'm fine with this as long as they aren't attempting to do what you are. It's the sandbox ffs.

Never thought I would actually support a Goon, but here I am Roll

I offer sincere apologies if my bullet points were not understood clearly. I am saying that I would like for all Low Security systems to have the same basic functionality with regards to which game mechanics work in them. This would include the assigning of fighters, the anchoring of specific Starbase modules, and so on. In short, anything you can do in 0.1 should also be doable in 0.4, and vice versa.

Note that I am not suggesting that things which are presently calculated on an incremental level (such as mission rewards and rat bounties) should be homogenized across the entirety of low security space. That's a whole other topic. This is just talking about things that arbitrarily work in 0.3 but do not work in 0.4, for no good reason.

That's some quality posting Goon Sir.

I, too, spent some time in Guatemala back in the 90's. Excellent beaches and Tikal was flat out stunning.

Berkeley, however, is a well known haven for savages and grotesques. You should pursue a career at a more respected institution of higher learning. DeVry or Capella being fine examples.

That grievous error in judgment for your life plan aside, I do hope you'll Sky Captain your way to the CSM alongside Dear Leader.

You will have my vote if you advocate making low-sec a viable option to 0.0 and empire, as in increase potential reward and benefits, nerf empire rewards and advocate the removal of "local", as in be able to see who is in a system by simply checking your local channel chat for all systems in the game (perhaps makes an exception for 0.0 alliances by allowing the one having sovereignty to see anyone in local.)

Some of us are sick of 0.0 and want something in-between empire and sovereignty warfare. Something that is worth ones time and not a waste of it.

I want to live in low-sec, move my whole family there and have a reason to other than sit at gates on select choke point with a tank buffer hoping to cap a ship before it warps off or guns get me, peace!

(if you promise to advocate these changes you are then my candidate and thus shall have my vote and voice as well as some campaign money *wink.)

Are you sure that DeVry would be the best choice? I was considering ITT Technical Institute, or perhaps University of Maryland University College, when it came to comedy options.

    Dearest Lyris,

What are your opinions on smugness?

If voted onto the CSM, how smug will you be?

How do you intend to react to smugness from other CSM members?

    Kind regards,
