The Devtrack is a set of presentations on tools and technologies for 3rd party developers. The Devtrack is a mini-conference inside Fanfest, and welcomes anyone with an interest in 3rd party development.

Last year saw presentations on developing for the In Game Browser, using the Static Data Export and the API. This year the Devtrack will present among other things:
  • A developer preview of a new RESTful, oAuth based read/write API for Eve Online - Carbon REST.
  • Web tools like an embeddable starmap (the one from the new eveonline.com) that you can overlay your own data on
  • Community sessions where real-world examples of applications are presented by their developers

  • Sign up for the devtrack to get more information about the devtrack as we get closer to Fanfest, and for the possibility to be part of the planning process and influence the topics and content.

    https://secure.eveonline.com/devtrack/

Please sign up and help spread the word to other 3rd party devs going to Fanfest - the signup is here to help us get an idea both for how many people are interested in these program items, and to let you shape the content.
As this is happening at Fanfest, you need a fanfest ticket to attend - but we're also working on how to document the Devtrack so that the content becomes available for all 3rd party developers.

For any comments or feedback, please post in this thread.

Unfortunately I'm unable to go to fanfest. If somebody wants to do a piece on the phpBB mod, feel free to do so, you've got my permission.

Would indeed be nice for devs (like me) to read about upcoming changes and other stuff discussed at the devtrack.

In any case, enjoy yourselves ;)

Could you tell us a bit more about the logistics of the dev track? How much of the rest of Fanfest is it up against, and what are we likely to miss on the main track if we choose the dev track?

The Devtrack is about half day, and a follow up roundtable the day after - main set of sessions are scheduled for first part of Friday so far. It will clash with other stuff on the program for sure, but you'll have the option to move between programme items as with any other part of Fanfest - so there is no lock-in for signing up for the Devtrack.

Is the other way round possible as well: Don't sign up, but show up for one presentation?
It's most likely that I'm interested in just a specific one.

Well, they oughta know what to do with them hogs out there for shure.

Absolutely! This is just a set of normal sessions with a theme and focus - just show up or not as you please! Sign up if you like, we might send some follow up info after Fanfest to the people who signed up, but it's very much optional.

Is there a possibility that these sessions will be posted on Youtube with links to any source or other materials for those of us unable to attend FanFest in person?

Well I suppose they won't begin with a 20 pages API but with a simple stuff everybody may get easily acquainted to P
