above is for mission ninjaing.

if you go into Tama, beware--the gate is camped 98% of the time. Tama is basically THE Caldari FW hangout point in low sec. Old Man Star is the Gallente FW equivalent. if you go into either system, there will be people hunting you down as soon as you break cloak.

Actually not mission ninjaing... player fight ninjaing Smile

Tama IS camped a lot of the time. That is exactly the kind of thing that makes the ninja successful! Also, the Faction Warfare players are actually a lot LESS likely to attack you than any other group. They don't want to get a global criminal flag because if a enemy faction jumps in they could get trapped. That said... most people don't like ninjas, and some players will shoot you regardless. One thing to remember in EvE is that there is a type of player out there that is absolutely fearless. When dealing with these guys, you aren't even safe in empire. (Google "Hulkageddon" for more info about 'gankers').

Yes, the probability for getting killed is high jumping in... but once you are in... paydirt!

Usually when I ninja I stay off the gate at 200km... I have several points at that range, so if not cloaked I can warp between them before getting killed. When there are wrecks from the above mentioned perpetual camps, you warp in and grab the loot. I'll admit it takes a little practice to get in and get out fast... but it's all about your skill. Game skill levels don't matter that much... and as a new guy it can really pay off nicely! Also you will learn a lot about fittings and the market as you do this, because you will see how people fit their ships for PvP and you will find out what all the modules are, what they do, and what they are worth on the market as you do it. It's better than any tutorial!

Himnos Altar is right though.... outside of Ninja Salvaging / Looting, you would never want to fit a ship in this crazy way. Big smile

A side benefit of salvaging/looting for me was that after a while I started to wonder what other people were doing with the salvage I was selling. That caused me to train scrap metal processing and eventually get into manufacturing.

Confirming that Ninja Salvaging is still alive and well. The new scanning nerf means you'll probably have to putz around for a while til you can more 100% hits, but go back and read Kahega's original guide and hit up our public channel. The ninja profession is among the least "grinding" sorts of play style and for those who really don't enjoy that in their MMOs, it's worth considering.
