Well, it's kinda hard to explain, but those that have used EVE Window Mode Helper should know. You can make a cutout off the eve client window, like the overview or local, and then that part becomes it's own little window which you can drag and place. This allows you to get valuable information in a lesser place, as you can stable the overviews from multiple clients on one screen, being able to see them all at once, for example.

Highly recommend Ultramon for all multi monitor owners.

I second this recommend. Works well for me.

Looks like the ability to make live snapshots of parts of the eve window with the EVE Window Mode Helper, isn't working any longer, a really neat function i must say. Does anyone know of anything similar?

Eve allows you to use multi monitors, but if you don't have that, and don't want to "alt + tab" between instances of the eve client. You can try this software out.

EVE Multi Client Manager

Found this software on a different post on the forums, but couldn't find the thread again, so I hosted it just via EIE.
