As the title says I'm just getting back to this game after over a year maybe even two. I'm not quite sure how my skills are are looking at this point and time and was looking for some guidance.

Trying to find my way into a useful PvPer role in a battleship. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I also have 3 remaps available.

LOTS of low-hanging fruit to pick for your skillsheet.

Advanced weapon upgrades, you've got the long prereq trained, get this asap.
Drone support skills, navigation, EW drone interfacing, durability, etc
Interceptors (so useful)
battlecruisers (if you want to pvp, you need to be able to fly these)
covops (so useful)

For pvp, don't expect to be useful in a battleship for awhile. Ravens (particularly cruise ravens) are more or less unheard of in pvp. The rokh is out with your gunnery skills. The scorp is cool but its mostly a fleet bs.

you would be best off and fastest training for a drake and getting t2 heavy missiles. This opens up the tengu for awesome pve as well. Battlecruisers are the most often used ship class in pvp, and the drake is arguably the best, and quite versatile as well. I would also check out your options in the frigate class with the raptor, hawk, and manticore. Also you can train to fly a falcon.

Other than that you'll need to take a major plunge into gunnery, which you should, but i would wait until after you have a competent drake fit (not long to train for).

Ok, so I'm going to go with the reccomendation of skills and try to get myself a drake as well. I was reading that the Raven isn't that good for PvP so again seems like I need to train accordingly.

Also would it be best to go for elite on the certificates required for drake usage?

I would be cautious about endorsing this. Elite certificates often have lots of lvl 5 skills where the marginal benefits of training lvl 5 are quite low. Drake-wise, getting shield upgrades 4, shield tactical manip 4 (t2 tank mods), advanced weapon upgrades to 3, and battlecruiser skill to 4 will fix all the major holes on your skillsheet in a very short period of time. After that you can get your drone support skills to 3 and your heavy missile spec up and you'll be 90% of the way there. These all apply to the ship in pve and pvp.

pvp-wise, you've got some big holes in propulsion jamming (lvl 4), acceleration control (lvl 4), high speed maneuvering (lvl 3-4), and thermodynamics (lvl 3-4)

lastly battlecruiser lvl 5 is an awesome skill that lets the drake take best advantage of its resistance bonus, and gives you full ship bonuses on all battlecruisers.

So yeah, elite certificates are out, since the only skills you need to even consider training to lvl 5 in the next few months are energy management and heavy missiles, and after that stuff like BC 5, subsystems 5 if you go tengu, and targeting 5, and long-range targeting if you want to fly a basilisk.

oh yeah, SHIELD RIGGING, you will be putting shield rigs on every ship you fly for the most part.
