What's funny is seeing a Testy and a Corp jumping WarDec evading character talk sh*t about long time members in NPC starter corps. Most Player owned corporations don't even want to talk to new players until they have at least 5 mill skill points.

Trust me, if I was afraid of a wardec or combat, I wouldn't be in TEST. We get quite a bit of both, thanks to our reputation of being terrible. Its a beautiful thing.

The last thing you should do is take anything an npc dude (oh the irony) says seriously. While there's some helpful alts here and there's also professional-grade trolls who want to blow you up and life-long carebears who are going to spew a bunch of bullshit about how Satanism is practiced in nullsec or something.

Even a really bad high-sec corp is miles better than an NPC corp.

This is my experience exactly. Every time I log on an alt and read the NPC corp chat for a while I get annoyed with all the bad advice and misinformation people are given. Those corps are fine at giving out objective info about how mechanics work, but almost always there is false or distorted info given in the mix. The further from highsec the topic gets, the worse the advice given tends to get, since only a few have actual experience while many have strong opinions about it. The advice given is often from the perspective of the people who didn't make it, didn't even try or who have only heard things about it, instead of from people who did do things succesfully and are still doing and enjoying it.

There are good things about being in a large NPC corp. Talking to loads of people being the most important one, but it really isn't the best place to get advice on some things. On little things or simple things, yes, but you're better of reading a guide or asking on the forums, if you need a detailed response or have a more specialized quesion.

It is what CCP wishes EVE would be.

Unfortunately I believe this will get removed but my response...

http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_related&kll_id=12313941

so you blobbed a bunch of t1 battleships with smaller ships that could have 1v1ed those BSes easily in competent hands?

I fail to see the significance. First, that isn't even remotely an impressive kill. Second, kills are meaningless to this discussion. The primary benefit corps provide are community, friendship and advice - not KMs.

You are failing to see that the majority of the people in that fight in those small ships are in CAS, an NPC starter corp. You say that NPC corps are worthless yet here is a group of players getting together and doing a PvP roam. Not only that but if you look, they took down 3 BS's with the loss of only 2 ships. To do that you need community, friendship, advice and instruction.

The real question is "could a bad high-sec corp go into low sec and give a spanking to some pirates?" The answer is no. So, your comment is blatantly wrong.

It is had to say there is a community here in NPC corps, mainly because players and CCP ignore the fact that communities exist in NPC corps. I posted that fight because it is the only way to have "pics or it didn't happen". It demonstrates that NPC corps do offer more then CCP believes, KM's are only a fraction of that.

It was a good video but it didn't sit well with me. It tried to pose itself as something that a pilot in New Eden would be shown but then breaks character and talks about how the character is an avatar.

Dammit... more silly Opera vs HTML5 compatibility issues. **epic facepalm**

It is just funny how YouTube decided to enlist me into their testing of HTML5 player w/o asking me. Specially as my browser lacks h.264 compatibility.

That explains a lot of the issues i've been having with youtube lately, btw. They should ask people wether they want to test or not their technology.

That is a little off, though the part about using cloning tech to make the look you want is correct. I was also a little annoyed when the narrator referred to EVE rather than New Eden.

Swing and a miss. I do not roleplay nor am a homosexual let alone a combination of both. If they wanted to make it like a video that would be seen if you lived in New Eden (which they have done before) they can but don't halfway through the video go breaking character. Either roleplay or don't.

No, I definately noticed that. After all my reply was mentioning how unimpressive it was and tieing it into the previous discussion about corps. It should have been pretty obvious.

And like I said, you could have done this with far fewer ships, and doing it solo would have been possible. So it wasn't even a good example of an unrelated KM being posted out of the blue.

Great vid, although they could go easier on the nice and shiny fake UI parts (or introduce them on TQ asap)

As what comes to NPC corps, CAS is a poor example as it is the only one that is actually any good at all (out of the ones I've had characters in at leas). They have frequent, organised activity resembling real corps, and people who aren't 100% scaredbears. Very good starter corp.

FNA, UC and RUN are **** for your career development, and the "boohoo lowsec kills" -attitude prevails in those.

Pator Tech chat is dead 99% of time, black silence only punctured by bad trolling and confused broken english that never gets replied.

Of course there are good people in those too, but if you go with the general attitude, you will waste months of precious game time "waiting to be ready" for the real EVE.
