Run repair.exe in your eve folder.
By default it will update your client to the current version.

What does the error message say?

Have you tried running the repair tool?

Bare in mind this is AFTER a pc restart of one failed attempt

Okay, so loading client now

It say's

Checking patch status then goes to

The update has been downloaded. The client will now close and the update process begin.

Press 'OK' to continue.

Now we are on the setup exe - now pressing next etc

Now it says - Applying the patch has failed, do u wish to launch the repair tool and have it attempt to fix the broekn client?

Now have clicked yes

Waiting....

And nothing happens...

So wth - I was playing eve less than 8 hours ago so i know it aint my pc or the client - The patch just broke my client :(

It happens sometimes.

Find the repair.exe program in the Eve installation folder and run it with administrator rights.

This has fixed broken patchings for me every time in the past.

1. Reboot
2. Open the EVE folder where your client install is and start the repair.exe
- Make sure you have not started the eve client in between step 1 and 2.

Alternatively:
1. Open task manager and close down any repair.exe, eve.exe, Exefile.exe running.
2. Start the repair tool from the EVE client directory

If you get that message you don't have to restart, if you go into Task Manager > Processes, you can often just cancel the .exe file associated with the program you're running, this works for other programs too if your getting this error message.

Beyond that I don't know of much else that would fix it I'm afraid.

Edit: LOL CCP dev beat me to it!

That "start panel" that you must check is called "task manager". IT tech, seriously?
1. Run repair.exe in your eve folder as administrator (Shift+RMB on executable)
2. If repair tried to update and failed - download latest version manually and run it from eve folder: http://cdn1.eveonline.com/client_repair/339/repair.exe

It's the new boot.ini except your computer will still start.

On other note my patching worked fine on all machines.

My Eve client also died, it reported a corrupt file and said run Eve Repair, did that and it wanted to update which then failed, I then used the repair tool without saying yes to update and that also failed. So have de-installed and am reinstalling.

I would suggest that you check to see if the Eve client is stil running, use Task Manager, mine was and I ended the process, when I decided of course not to update the repair tool that is. Edit: - I now see you did that, wierd, so you might want to deinstall and reinstall.

Anyway am at 2.28 GB out of 4.64 GB, this is the first time I have had the client fail since I started playing in 2009, so I guess I have been lucky so far.

Sad to hear that you are still having issues, I am at 3.08 GB now...

Keep trying with the download, it may be that there are a lot of people with issues and there is not enough bandwidth, its running at 131 KB/S to 221 KB/S so I think the load on the server is quite heavy, should be over 500 for me.

I really hope this download does not fail, I was hoping to do some killing after DT...
