Wow. Mouse and keyboard support and there is still PC tears about it. When are you guys going to get it through your thick, stubborn, dumb, ******* head DUST 514 was not intended for the PC gamer market, but for the console gamer market?

The only reason they're making Dust 514 is to make money out of gullible people like you when it's obvious just how easy it would be for CCP to make the game for the PC as well and release it as an expansion.

this way they get both. pc gamers will usually drop more cash on a gfx card (when it's time to replace) than what a ps3 costs. if the gameplay is any good i can see pc gamers buying a ps3 just for dust. this is why sony grabbed the chance they were given imo.

Personally i prefer using a controller/game-pad for shooters... I wonder if one method will offer an advantage.

In every iteration of FPSs attempting to pit PC against console gamers, the PC gamers roflstomped the console gamers due to the advantages of the mouse/keyboard.

Yeah, that all sounds great but CCP have previously said the the Keyboard and Mouse will have full support for CORP CHAT CHANNELS. So I won't be holding my breath until either CCP says the Mouse can be used for aiming ( which this article does NOT say ) or we get our hands on a beta key.

No I can tell you, they're referring to aiming in the match. And I'm the one that wrote the article.

that the question I wanted answered. How sure are you about this, because it sounds awesome. Although just how I can play dust on a ps3 with a mouse in the living room is a question. I think this will need some DIY work

100%. Baring some dev with a vendetta out to cause damage deleting all the code allowing this on the day before it goes out, it will be there. If you look at the original article (the one of dust514base, not Joystiq) we've got some confirmation from CCP. Alternatively you can look on twitter for CCP Jian, the executive producer for DUST 514, who tweeted to confirm that it's in after people didn't believe me. (To be honest, I didn't know whether to be offended or be happy that they might have a chance at surviving in EVE).

As far as mouse in the living room, I haven't tried it but I would assume that wireless mice work perfectly well with PS3s. Same with wireless keyboards. Even more so if you've got a Bluetooth mouse/keyboard, as the PS3 has a built in adapter (it's what the controllers and wireless headsets use).

My guess is they'd seperate the two methods.

You cant have 1 team using the standard controller and the opponents using KBaM, its crazy to even contemplate it.

If its all being played out on a single server - tranquility - they cant seperate in the true sense, but they would be able to limit lobbys to only KBaM or only Controller.

As much as I am pleased they are doing this, it doesn't help me as I sit 6 foot from the TV on a leather couch.

No where to place the mouse, or keyboard.

Such a bold statement like this sure could use some links to all those iterations they have done it. Do you have any credible sources?

I can do that. Well, not quite as most people think.

And for the original "source" of Microsoft's trial between Xbox 360 and PC gamers, this looks to be it. Take it as you will.

So the first link is just someone talking about the other two links. Second link is one where gamepad was the clear winner and the final one is one guy talking about him hearing it from another guy that the mouse+keyboard was the clear winner. Fascinating. You made it sound like you had dozens of examples, yet you have only two. And those are hardly anything to wave around as facts.

Consider me officially excited. I will now buy this at the earliest possible moment. Thank you CCP for this. I had no intentions of playing this if it was only on the controller.

My rational side is taking hold in my brain. I now fear a subtle crutch being added for the gamepad guys. The auto-aim mechanic. That little nudge the game gives a control pad user as he gets his reticule on target that finishes the aim so to speak. I hope that doesn't rear it's ugly head but if it does I hope it's very, very carefully balanced.

Or as someone above mentioned, they could limit the sensitivity of your mouse so that it matches the sensitivity of the game pad.

Or they could take it a step further and make sensitivity part of the gameplay - i.e. heavier weapons are slower to move around and aim than lighter weapons. This allows you to split your gamepad users from your keyboard+mouse users. gamepad users would favor heavier armor and heavier weapons while keyboard+mouse users would favor lighter armor and lighter weapons which enable them to aim faster and better.

Both kinds of players will be needed, so players can choose the control scheme that fits their playstyle.
