If you want to mine go play Perpetuum it's on an entirely different planet as far as extraction and industry go and much more enjoyable for the industrial crowed.

Recruitment Officer: What type of a pilot are you? Me: I've been described as a Ray Charles with Parkinsons and a drinking problem.

I mined on my first toon, it was soul destroying untill I found a chill group of guys to mine with. Like most things in this game being sociable and getting the right corp helps, a lot

0.0 Mining has change a lot over the years.
High-sec mining well not so much.

The problem is the more attention you need to spend on actual mining the less time you have to watch local.
In high-sec it doesn't matter so much in 0.0 well.....

Besides mining is what it is, if you want more excitement, try missions you will earn more ISK as well.

Besides the less miners there are... well okay maybe I have good reason to see less people mine.
No changes needed.

To grasp this you have to understand the game mechanics as dictated by the adolescent mentality of management are designed to get your ships blown up so you have to replace them constantly thus making the MARKET SOAR! Any suggestion to modify conditions to more closely match what would actually be happening is met with a fusillade of abuse and contempt by...guess who...the ones blowing up your ships!

In other words, mining as a career in high sec is offered to you just so you can be bait to satisfy the vision of some pretty myopic game developers, and the sociopathic thrills of some very tiny minded people. (Just so these certifiable people won't claim I'm QQ-ing [umadbrah?] I don't mine.)

So, yeah, the advice to get a bunch of people to blow up the people blowing you up while you rake in your pittance of ore not only is the best idea, it's exactly what the developmentally challenged developers want you to do. It's rigged.

Nothing like a rigged sandbox, eh?

Paradise is like where you are right now, only much, much better.

So i started eve with the idea of becoming a miner.
I thought it would be good just hang in belt.

But i got terribly disappointed, there are so many ppl just bumping miners, shooting them and other stuff. Maybe i'm doing something wrong so some tips would be nice. i know mining isn't taking any risk so the pay is bit less and i don't care about that as long as i can keep mining but with all the ppl just hating on miners and messing up their mining it's becoming nearly impossible to mine.

some tips would be nice, i don't care about hating posts so i suggest you don't waste your time.

edit: ship used covetor. system venilen, isanamo, kappas,... i mine in many different systems always trying to find quiet one with still pretty good asteroids.

Please do not evade the profanity filter. Zymurgist

solution 1.... dont mine - run l4's its more proftiable
solution 2.... dont mine - ganking haulers is more profitable
solution 3.... dont mine in high sec - but do it in null sec where its more profitable
solution 4.... dont mine - move to 0.0 and rat or run anoms all day
solution 5.... dont mine - move to jita and join the many other scammers there.

Here's a solution for you.

Pack your stuff and move out from Caldari space. It's overpopulated (with emorage cs teen) who only like to play bully to compensate their own privateparts and selfesteem.

Ammatar mandate space is really good. Not that many players there. Also outskirts of Amarr and Minmatar space are also nice. No idea about Gallente space as never been there nor will even go.

Try to find a system with station that provides factory in case you want to turn your ore into ships, weapons etc.
Also if possible, look for 0.5 system to put up your mining base.
Also put up a simple PI system and produce coolant and mechanical parts. Small invest that should bring you passive income. Need only to go few mouse clicks now and then and haul you stuff from planets to station and once per month you can haul goodies to major tradehub for sale.

If you like, contact me ingame and we can discuss you future as a dedicated miner in SXM.

My advice , gather a group of like minded friends, or join a corp that is specialized in mining
Step two, find yourself a backwater constellation, you know those systems wirh almost no highlvl agents and a few wtations , with a sec rating of 0,5 or 0,6
Most likely there more belts then people

Have regular mining ops with the whole corp with orca support atleast 2 times a week pref more

Mining alone will only get your a limited profit , start expanding in building things aswell, start with small items and small ships and haul them to a trading hubyou will make more income out of your mining,
Setting up a balanced payout system can give you a headache

I promise you aslong you don t do stupid things you and your friends wIll have a good and steady income

One more point , the numbers of miners in a constellation can fluctuate constantly , if you feel the constellation gets overcrowded and overmined don t be afraid to pack up things and move out to another region

So this is permanence

I've recently started Ice Mining, seeing as ice fields are only in certain systems they are always heavily populated. Therefore the amount of can flippers is naturally a lot higher. While my corp mines ice in a fleet with Orca support, for POS fuel. There is always going to be time when I need to mine solo (for personal profit or fleet inactivity).

The only decent counter to can flippers I can see is to create an alt who can fly a hauler and park them next to your mining ship. It will require running two EVE clients, and the alt will need to be in a gang with you or in your corp.

You should jettison a can with a bookmark in it and dump your ice / ore in there. Then switch to your alt char in your hauler, open the jettisoned can and transfer the ice/ore to the cargo hold. Repeat this until full and drop off at the station.

This won't stop a dedicated can flipper who could be cloaked and watching you closely, but it will minimise the time you have ice/ore exposed to them.
Obviously this won't stop people bumping into you, suicide ganker's and other types of griefer's.
I'm still learning so this might not be the best method either but it might be worth a try.

As others have pointed out there are other more profitable professions out there, but like you I enjoy the 'zen' of mining.
I also supplement my mining income buy doing some remote buying & selling of items on the market. Every little thing helps at the end of the day.
