I have been living in w-space now for well over 2 years, currently in a C3, and have just seen something that is giving me a WTF happened moment.

Earlier today our D845 HS static exited to Kaimon. Did a bunch of trips buying/selling, scanned for rabbit holes, etc.

I logged on at about 1300, did some POS maintenance/PI stuff, and then hopped into an indi to go to Jita for more stuffs. Set up security at all entries inside our system, and take my hauler alt outside. Lo and behold!!! I'm in Gallente space, a few systems from Dodixie??????

Ok, obvious answer is someone collapsed old HS and scanned new entry, right? And then didn't update our MOTD.

Except that only one other corp member was on after I had logged off earlier today....and right before DT, he had inserted himself into one of the rabbit wholes in Kaimon. Also, it was the Kaimon corp location that I had just warped to, and ended up in Gal-space.

CCP, did something happen during DT that changed the outbound location????

Inquiring minds wanna know Shocked

Edit: I do know what time the original exit is supposed to close and will be watching for it.

and you really think this is worth a post in "EVE General Discussion"?

I am sure CCP singled you out to **** with. Just like God has been hiding dinosaur fossils to **** with Evolutionists when everyone knows the world is only 6000 years old ;)

so you're saying the destination of your wormhole changed during downtime, but it was at the same location as the BM was still working ?
so either there was a bug, either a new WH opened just at the same place the previous one was before ?

Sure, why not post this experience up for folks to read and review? People post far worse sh1t in here compared to OP.

Had 4 H296s spawn in a c5, the server crashed ~ 10 minutes later.

Several players have reported wormholes doing strange things since the last patch. According to CCP none of the code has changed. I would confirm and file a bug report (they would like to get them the day something happens).

I suspect issues are more widespread but a lot of people simply shrug when a WH does strange things and think that it is intended.

The problem with filing bug reports for anything wspace related is they will always be closed by bug hunters without being looked at. It's why the hilarious AHARM + RNK exploiting occured at one point. The bug hunters are inept and also it's really hard for them to reproduce anything in wspace that requires random wormhole spawning or multiple people to anything.

FYI, something similar happened to me a while ago, after Incarna but before Crucible.

The static was on its way out, "reaching the end of its lifetime", when I logged for the night which was an hour or two before DT. The following morning the static was exactly where the dying one was, nice and fresh, and leading to a different system.

Also, the plural of anecdote isn't data, but I'll say that I've noticed more weird wormhole behavior since Crucible. There was a period of a couple weeks when I had anywhere from 2 to 4 Z142's (not the static, my system is a C5) every single day, and since then I get them a LOT more often than I did before Crucible. Every one of them has the "has not yet begun its lifecycle" type message upon warping to. This is likely just a weird coincidence though, and an obnoxious one since while scanning it's not possible to tell if I have 4 Z142's or 4 K162's without actually checking out the signatures by warping on grid with them. I also seem to get more 24-hour wormholes than before that have the "has not yet begun its life cycle" message, which may point to an increase in seeing wormholes with noticeable deviations in their lifespan, or might just be something random on my end.

-shrug- the joy of wormhole space is worth every nuisance that arises from their nature. as long as these nuisances aren't caused by bugs, but yeah, lol @ reporting wormhole bugs. Tried that, nothing.

A rabbit hole aslo stands for a symbolic hole that if you go down it, things start to get really wierd and crazy, but at the end of it your suppose to make sense of things better.

Ever gone chasing rabbits and they run to their burrows and hide :)

It's what we in Fleet call a w-space system filled with carebears. (Tho tbh, we ended up being the rabbits for a while a few days ago.....darned Ducks Big smile )

As far as bug reporting this.....all I have at this point is conjecture and circumstantial evidence, hence I haven't reported it. Also why I brought it to General Smile

Additional info; this particular D845 is now approximately 27 hours old and still not EOL, still in same spot I scanned 27 hours ago, same bookmarks and tacs.....but a different outbound location after DT. I have talked to all corp members logged on at that time and verbally confirmed that no one in corp collapsed or scanned new D845 in past 27 hours.

At this point, I'm just chalking it up to a database glitch upon reboot, but I posted to see if anyone else had same experiences.

A rabbit hole is basically an underground maze of intersecting tunnels and exits; W-space is basically an interstellar maze of intersecting (and constantly changing) tunnels and exits.

This is partly why it is pretty common for a wormhole, or series of wormholes, to be referred to as a 'rabbit hole'.

Whole rabbits, ie. Rabbits that are not in several pieces.

Not sure why one of the OP's corpmates was inside one though Shocked

I noticed a similar thing on the test server a few weeks ago. Not sure if it happened during a DT or when the static was supposed to de-spawn, but there was a new static wh to a different place in the exact same location as the old one. It happened more than once over the course of a week, but it didn't happen all the time. Since wormholes on sisi get even less love than on TQ, I chalked it up to test code running on the server and never filed a bug report on it. There is a bug in the wh spawn/de-spawn code somewhere, that's clear. CCP has been notoriously silent on exactly how wormholes are supposed to work, which makes it very hard to know if something is working as intended or not (see recent discussions on mass-limit variance for example). IMO "wormholes are supposed to be weird and unpredictable" is a convenient excuse for CCP to cover up a lot of problems in their wormhole coding.
