In-Game Events and Gatherings

Heres some tips for people who haven't played a lot of texas holdem

*keep your eyes open for flush and straight possibilities, it's easy to overlook, but if two clubs,spades,hearts,diamonds pop over on the flop, be wary of making a big bet with your high pair/ 3 of a kind, they have a 50% chance of catching a card they need to beat you, 25% after the 4th card

*play more hands when the blinds are lower, if you stumble into something, and can get action, you can usually coast to a win (in the double throughs anyway)

*when you see your cards, decide what they are worth right then and there, don't call a bet you don't want to, it's ok to throw away a weak hand that turns into a good one, the percentages say that usually, you'll just be giving away money. i had 10k chips the other night with 5 people left, i threw away a 5 7 to a 500 chip bet, only to see 5 5 7 turn over, i was only disappointed until someone went all in, got called, and revealed a pair of 7's, that hand would have cost me more than half of my chips.

*know the best possible hand, before the flop, pocket aces is the best possible hand you can have, maximize profits when you have the best possible hand, and chase out people who may want to see the flop with a 9 10, that can easily turn into a straight and wreck your aces, get rid of those people, and if no one wants to play you when you have the best hand, repay the favor when they have it.

*never play the same way twice, if you crush someone with the nuts (best possible hand) with a huge bet that they called, and everyone sees you win, next time you have it, don't be so quick to make that huge bet, people will remember what happened last time someone called it, and you aren't maximizing your best hands, be patient, it's ok to check it down and get some more information before making a play, or wait for someone to bet into your nuts, summarily, it might be a good time to bluff or try to wear a low chip count sucker down, you can always call. never stay aggressive or cautious the whole time, mix up your play style.

*use the button! being last to act is the best spot to be in, if you can see a flop cheaply, do it. in contrast, being just ahead of the big blind, throw away those low connectors, you might be ok with paying 150 to see a flop, but with so many players acting behind you, that may just turn into a donation if someone raises to 1000, if your ahead of the big blind, with aggressive players behind you, you can really sucker them if you have a great hand pre-flop, pocket kings or aces, if i feel a raise coming, i will just call the blind, if someone raises, they're mine! get them pot committed and get them beat.

*it's a game of luck, the skilled players only manipulate that luck, maximize wins with their lucky hands, and minimize losses with their unlucky ones, if you feel beat, don't throw all in just to see! live to fight another hand, poker is all about timing. be patient and..

Originally i started playing EOH for the cash games and recently found out how to start doing tournaments.
Staff (bankers) are so easy to connect with and create games or conversation with them.
I really like the 2 channel idea, with the moderated channel , this gives easy access to see what games are currently going. and the update time and turn around for tournament starts for their mavens is amazing.
I have really enjoyed EOH and use my toon Darryl Holdcroft to play.
Besides from mavens bugging out on occasion , which is not the fault of EOH the ease of access for ring players and tournaments players is easy.
I will always adivse keep poker players when they join eve to start playing EOH.

Just come back to EVE after a break. EOH partly brought me back - skin in each hand but it's not going to damage you out of game. Who wants my 100,000,000 ISK I've just put in my account? Good luck ...

Poker is a fun roller coaster and to play it for ISK is a great way to pass the time between the action in-game.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

So far ive only participated on Ring games, since i always come at the wrong time for the tournament ones, but even on those, when i had to bail before the table was constituted, they refunded me quickly and to the last isk. Superb and thrustworthy service, would bet again ;)
