Wasted time really.

Seriously does anyone see this forum attracting people that the old one didn't?

If a move doesn't generate you more business, why do it. The only purpose of these forums was to get rid of the years of player comments and suggestions. Yeah they say they'll keep the old forums as archives, give it 6 months and they'll be hidden, another 6 and they'll be gone.

There is an upside to all this Akita - if the forums are finally considered to be "finished" in theory at least this will free up resources to get other things done.

Which begs the question - with limited CCP resources, would you allocate more resources to the forums, or are there other things which would rather see CCP work on?

The question itself is mostly rhetorical - CCP will do whatever they think they need to do. But I can think of a few other things which might benefit from attention more than the current implementation of the forums (even if I agree that these can definitely be improved, but then, so can most things)

Unallocated resources? Now that we've debugged the software, according to usual operating procedure the web team can disappear to build Dust forums, and WoD doesn't even have a web page yet. Plenty to keep them busy. Keep those feature requests for when you see them again in 2013.

My god.. You people whine about everything. Its impossible to please everyone, and we all know the game is reaching the crap level but whine about something that deserve it. I don't give a damn if some forum trolls cant get online in the cellphones or whatever crap you have. Worry about the game instead and how CCP can improve it (if they really want to do that)

No Tippia, people whine about everything atm. The old forum and this one are full of trolls, i miss the time where it was enjoyable to read most of the threads, now it's almost impossible to find something worth the time to read and answer. People have the right to complain but god.. the trolling is just too much and the lack of moderation doesn't help as well.

I´m also unsatisfied with the current state of the game and the near future but lets try to be a little more coherent with the complaint.

I prefer the new forums over the old, but Akita certainly has a point about missing features. Does anyone know if CCP has washed their hands of this now, or do they plan to iterate on it?

Funnily enough, a lot of the trolling is from the “stop complaining” camp, since that's they have to compensate for their decided lack of arguments for obviously substandard feature releases.

Some iterations have been mentioned, but the question really remains: why is it happening now, not in February when the problems were first identified and communicated? What have they been doing the last half year? Why were they released to begin with in spite of the many well-reported issues?

We could have had a fully functional and worthy replacement forum by now, but their going off half-cocked and having to fix things after the fact has obviously slowed things down.

I like it well enough and really don't care if you don't. Hate you for not liking it? That's way too intense. Annoyed - especially after your "repost" with the mix of personal preferences tossed into it... That is a far more fitting description.

The simple truth of the matter is that many will like it and many others won't - no matter how they change it. Like everything CCP releases of late, they aren't finished with this yet. They don't seem to release "finished works" anymore - just "beta" style works in progress so we'll all just have to see what they do here in the future.

You'll probably see some of what you are looking for but I doubt you'll get all of that list filled. At least I hope not, I'd hate to lose some functionality to appease your sense of proper design.

Which would be nice and all if they were in any way receptive of comments and suggestions. That is the whole issue: that they put on this grand show about collecting feedback and input, and then route it to /dev/null, release something that is as obviously broken as when the first test iteration came out, and then you have to yell at them to get any kind of iteration to happen.

Of course people whine and "troll", show me a progress CCP did lately on the game.

CQ does nothing old hangar view didn't do better, faster and with less CPU/GPU load.
We were asking about old hangar view option since CQ hit Duality, no DEV/GM answer, then it hits Sisi, we ask again and still silence, it hits TQ and they tell us its gone forever. We got no answer for months and then we got forced into a static door or CQ. And CCP said the "door" is only temporary option, in future we couldn't even chose.

Every time they patch 1 thing, they break 5 more.
They re-introduce "fail-forum" they spent 72.000 hours re-skinning i guess that does nothing old forums didn't do, but in the process they remove images (again), give us fixed width that is crap and a "like" option that makes me think we are turning into facebook.

I will be the first to applaud when they do something for community, and not release "fails" on every occasion.
But where is game content? Show me internet spaceship content that we are playing/paying this game for.

I dont mind new forums, i dont mind Eve Gate, i dont mind CQ (even tho i would like old hangar as an option), but i mind when we get everything aside the things we need...and that is game fixes and QA on future content/patches.

Akita could you please restart the 1000 paper cuts project with a link to the old ones in it. If you include both "papercuts" and "paper cuts" in the bodie people will be able to find it easier. I would start it but you deserve the honor.

This thread is mainly about the forums which is good but people will look for 1000 papercuts becouse that is what is on the old forums and got a lot of play by CCP at fanfest.

My biggest complaint is the whole lack of images.

GG CCP, lets remove functionality and call it an improvement...

(This applies to the game as well, not the forums...)
