During my many months of being away from Eve and only being able to EFT Warrior and plug in skills I had an idea.

Whilst looking at advancing my Thermodynamics skills I noticed that the gain from IV to V isnt that significant (in particular for MWD) So I had an idea.

How about introducing a mid slot module that reduces the effects of overheating, a heat sink if you like (ThermoCouple to prevent confusion though)

Skill required could still be thermodynamics but could add an additional 5% reduction in overheating per level with an overall increase in sig radius of say 10%.

Fitting requirements would need to be carefully worked out though so as not to unbalance fits or overpower ships.
Should not effect ECM mods (ECCM would be fine)

Should only effect the mods either side of the "Thermocouple" also.

Just an idea.

There has been a mechanic for this since thermodynamics was introduced. Offlined modules and empty slots function as heatsinks for the rack they are on.

The fact that you aren't aware of this is evidence enough that people like to use their slots for things instead of dedicating them to overheating (utility high-slots excepted of course).

Firstly I am aware that it is possible to enhance overheating duration by using an offlined mod or leaving a slot empty. I have flown a Harby so I know all about leaving a high slot empty anyhow Cool

I am suggesting a mid slot specific mod that can enhance the overheating of certain mods above and beyond the old oflline/empty method.

I didnt say it was a good idea just an idea.
