Sounds legit.

The :tenbux: is to join the SA forum, not to join goonswarm. If you get on SA and try to join up with goons, you will be milked for isk then laughed at. Then probably banned from SA for good measure. Those threads are hilarious to read.

it is simple , CCP introduced rules to protect new players from scamming , two simple rules , no scamming in the rookie channel and no scamming in the recruitmentchannels
Since they used the recruitment channel to contact the op with the sole puorpose of scamming in they violated CCP rules and there fore shoould atleast get a temporary ban
It doesn't matter that most of the conversation took place in a private chat or that the victim is a older player , the ruleviolation started when they used the recruitment channel to find a victim

If CCP doesn't take action just proofs that CCP is guilty of favoritism and is using 2 different lvls to penalize players who violated the EULA

so this is permanence

This sounds interesting. Because unless you can prove that happened, anyone in the recruitment channel can always claim they were scammed from there with no evidence whatsoever. Or one should get a timer (we like timers right) for 10 hours after joining/quitting the recruitment channel, and any scam whatsoever in that timer period is linked to you being in the channel.

I have seen people bragging about the pvp skills in Jita local, if they repeated this in recruitment, they'd start their Recruitment Chat Invulnerability (RCI) timer, right? Especially if someone tried to sell them an "elite pvp" fitted tengu, just with no tengu. Or with skillboks for subsystems instead of subsystems. Because clearly the person only knew they'd want a tengu because they said so in recruitment, and not from looking at them bragging about how they can 1v1 anyone in their tengu.

P.S. The skillbooks instead of actual subsystems is a really nice scam.

gee i wonder how many new players tend to have 500m isk plus t3s and faction ships sitting around

it's hilarious that multibillionaires fall for such obvious scams and even more hilarious that the incompetent GMs behind this rule throw around this "protecting new players" nonsense

Anyway, a month old account that's say in an NPC corp mining away is just such an obvious SPAI setup, no one would really try to run though what is such a clear "I'm a SPAI alt/awoxer"

There are multiple EVE trailers who are anchored around the concept of ganking and scamming.

this post shows your mentality to be honest. because scamming has been in the game since forever you seem to think it's ok to break the few rules ccp impose on us as players. someone broke the rules and should pay for it. i suggest you inform your members not to use the recruitment channel again. 1 month ban is too short for the work your corp member has caused ccp not to mention the harm you could cause their company in sales . they have more important stuff to be working on than this.

edit : btw i have no sympathy for the op exept for the fact he was fished from a channel he shouldn't have been. he should get off lightly on a "loophole"

indeed scamming been part of this game always, i followed these forums for month before i started playing this game so i think i know pretty well what this game is all about, if you want to scam people go ahead nobody stopping you or me

the point is that some people broke the rules by using one of the two chatchannels CCP clearly stated they will not allow scamming in them,

I really don't think the GMs should be getting involved here. Too many tears and not enough brains.

And whatever happened to the sniff test? I am mean the OP has no background with the Goons and suddenly he waits to hang with the Alliance that has the best rep for having players scam other players. Did OP suddenly lose track of his marbles? This story makes little sense. Anyway they did him a favour as the alternative would have been to move all his stuff to 0.0, then kick him from Corp. And CCP can't do anything about that either. That's EVE for you.

It all relies on what CCP has to check what happened.
If they have any kind of tool to retrieve logs from a player acrivity, which is not that improbable, they will have all the tools to actually verify that I've been invited to a conversation from the recruitment channel. If that happens, I probably still won't get any isk back, but then whoever was involved in the scam SHOULD get punished in whatever form CCP thinks it's fair.
If they don't have the required tools to do it... Then I pretty much just have to blame my stupidity, and they will just keep doing what they are doing, which is ignoring the game's rules.

If you look at the recruitment section of the Goon's webpage, you'll see that the proper way to join is to sign up for the something awful forums and be semi-active for 3 months. Or be the BFF of a Goonswarm member. The scam you fell for is explicitly described on their recruitment page.

Obviously people can't or are to lazy to a read recruiting post, expensive lesson to learn, funny stuff though.

I'm putting my app in at lunch.

Sounds like an easy way to make ISK.

People just give it to you without any effort

Or access or acceptance

Or thinking

Or questioning an requiring assurances back such at 72 hours in the corp first and full API of te recruiter so you can see where money goes....

Fun!
