So you're saying a person that has the gift of the gab and knows nothing of which they speak of, would make a good CSM.

how many presidents and kings do you think were brilliant scientists, cunning strategists, etc? Few to none. You don't need to understand the intricacies of something to know its broken and needs fixing, and the CSM is not tasked with providing details. You sure as hell need to be able to motivate people to get up in arms about an issue or be able to express the problem in clear language, though. You want examples? Churchill, Kennedy, Lincoln...

They might make a good conduit to relay what someone else thinks but that's about it, they won't be able to contribute much other than being a figure-head.

A leader doesn't relay someone else's opinion. He either is given the rundown by experts and comes to a conclusion, or he represents his constituents and lets the opinion of the majority decide. The CSM is not a position CCP comes to in order to ask what numbers they should tweak. Its a group of people who provide high quality feedback and represent the playerbase. By far the most important skills would be confidence, clarity, and the ability to drink with devs and not make yourself look like some aspie having his first night out. That, and not being afraid to call an idea out on being pants-on-head ********.

Presidents and kings, have loads of advisors, that generally know what they're talking about. But one of the roles of presidents and kings is to be a figure-head.

This game does not need CSMs that have no idea how the game works at present, it needs experienced players that will recognise the pros and cons of ideas that are put to them. The CSMs need to be able to discuss things with CCP and know what they're talking about. They do need good social skills but nobody is arguing that. But knowledge of the game is very important and aids in discussing anything game related.

A leader probably does relay someone else's opinion under advisement, part of their duty is to be a figure-head. They will also make thier own decisions based on what they know and have been told by their advisors. Leaders are also conduits to their advisors knowledge and opinions.

I tend to think Mittens, no real idea who Lyris is.

I accused him of basically being a Goon diplomat, but got a massive wall o' text denying this.

I think diplomats are busy doing things besides playing on the Forums Sandbox part of EVE. Unless nullsec diplomacy is carried out on the forums here.

And yeah, posting to confirm we're all the Mittani's voting bloc. If you're not part of our friendly beehivemind, feel free to vote for Lyris if you hate our wonderful leader.

Yeah, corp taxes and all that. It all goes towards - good fights - explosions and newbies.

I never said he represented goonswarm. I said he was the face of goonswarm here. When a person totally unaware of nullsec politics thinks GS, they think The Mittani first, and then the high profile people who actually speak to the community second. People like Andski and Lyris. They could be the lowest of the lowly peons inside the alliance itself, but they are essentially acting diplomats out here.

Andski is actually worthy of csm candidacy and has a good understanding of the game. I know this because he's active and participates in the things we do. Lyris does not.

Casting a vote for someone because they're an eve-o superstar is moronic, and I expect nothing less from a test alliance pubbie with more forum "likes" than actual kills on his killboard.

I don't know how to break this to you, but so does Andski. Hell, so does The Mittani. Their likes to kills ratios are significantly higher.

But please, carry on with your entertaining double standard and horrendously misplaced sense of elitism for such a goddamn nobody.

And regarding voting for an "eve-o superstar", I don't quite think you understand how politics work. At all. Nor do you seem to have any real concept of what it is the CSM does. Please, go into detail, tell me what you think the average day for a CSM member is like in Iceland.

Average day I thought was them getting drunk, then checking killboards and comparing stats, then hilmar assigns jobs according to kill ratios. Then they call other game companies to ask for Microtransactions advice. Get drunk again. Compare **** and server sizes, realize they are low on beer and beer money, Call up CSM and see how they can get them to get more players to give more money to them, so they can by more beer. Then they crash and feel good about things.

Making a huge post on eve-o pointing out the methods in which we in Goonswarm cast our votes and use our numbers to an advantage to get our dudes getting elected is pretty crappy. Not that it's not obvious to everyone anyways, but you are here literally taking a stand against something that is good for our alliance, and advocating that it gets broken.

I'm not sure how you got into Goonwaffe, but I'm looking forward to the day you get commissar'd for being the huge pubby that you are.

Thank you for this post, Space Friend! I think that I will include it in all of my other threads from here on in, as evidence of the fact that I am not at all running as the Goonswarm candidate for CSM7. People seem to have the impression that I am part of a large conspiracy to split the public vote or to install nothing but Goons on the panel, neither of which could be further from the truth. I am glad that you, at least, recognize me for the blood traitor that I am, standing up to The Mitten and speaking for The Pubby Proletariat.

I don't really understand, but even the Mittani linked to something he wrote discussing the electoral process and what is going on? He seems to say similar things.

Does this count as the official thread for likes? It was made before the deadline, or you gonna make an official thread shortly?

EDIT: NVM think I figured it all out now.

So goons + mittens = lyris narin?

Kind of confused on who to vote for, Suppose I will vote for lyris then. That means all the goons and mittens and her are on a seat then. Everyone wins.

It's actually a good slogan, given your campaign to advocate what the people want.
