What's with the constant login queues?

Yeah, those login queues are not unusual during, say, post-downtime rush to get back on.

But over the recent days I've seen more and more "random" login queues appearing. Even at very low population hours. What's going on? What's hammering the login servers to trigger the login queue? Is someone perhaps trying to bruteforce EVE account passwords?

It's not a queue. It's just pretending to be one....
No amount of waiting will get you logged in. Kill the client and start up a new one.

What f*cks me off is that CCP is trying to con you into thinking that you are in a queue when you're really not. Just f*cking tell us that your log-in system is FUBAR'd, and then ask us kindly to try again later.
At least that would be honest.....

Oh wait - this is CCP (BS-ing since 2003)

The reason why this comes up so often lately is because...

HUNDREDS of people are trying to connect at the same time as everybody else !
This means that YOU are a part of these HUNDREDS of people every single moment !

Tranquility simply can't keep up with all these login-requests !

Now, for the reason why the login-queue-number seems to be just a random number ...

It isn't. You were #xxx (i once made it to #2400+) of HUNDREDS of people that tried to log in at the very same second ...
... but as Tranquility has a rather short attention span because of all the HUNDREDS of people ...
... it forgets about you.

That's it.

Now you may ask ... but if so many of these HUNDREDS of players get into the "queue", restart their client ...
... shouldn't i be put into the queue again ?

No ! First of all, the queue works and these people get logged in without restarting ...
... which simply does never happen for YOU ...
... and the other reason is ...

Hell, how should i know ???

a borked proxy can also give this - just relog and you'll connect to another proxy

Look. This is a PROBLEM...it is NOT normal.

Chribba Veldspar even Tweeted about it last night while it was happening. Roll

The queue is a lie.

The intern that wrote that code probably moved on years ago and like POS code, its just too darn hard for anyone to bother reading it and fixing it.

Just restart the client.

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

TIL people have no idea all you do is wait 30 seconds and hit connect again and it logs you in.
