The guy you argue has a point, I have played FPS games for fun and in competitions both on PC and consoles for years. I started with PC (doom 1) way before I tried out console shooters starting with the first Xbox (halo1.) My conclusion is that both are valid and both offer different play styles thus, you can run into problems as well. If you play a shooter made for consoles, play it on consoles. MW2 and 3 etc are console shooters and work great on consoles, gears of war too and halo and some unreal games etc. When you try to play a PC game on a console **** happens, counter strike on consoles=****. Also battlefield for consoles is ****, but then again, not that great for PC either but whatever, studios wanna sell games for both consoles and PC these days even if one uses completely different controls.

Like selling a Wii game for PC and use mouse and keyboard would be a ******** thing, also is it crap to play console made games for PC or vice versa if you are using wrong input device.

You have to change your playstyle when playing on consoles, when Iplay on a console I never focus my training on aiming, I really don't, I focus on timing, tactic/strategy and speed in target, run, jump, weapon switch and turn in the air while I still have eyes in my neck. Kinda feels more like the difference between playing Unreal tournament/quake arena compared to CS and cod etc. In UT your main focus is on pulling of the wall jumping, strafe jumping and combinations and getting power ups.

I can enjoy MW2/3 on consoles but on PC, no f'ing way, it blows compared to it. Also think of, why a person playing lets say assassins creed on PC but he does it with a 360 controller or whatever. Controls for a good tuned FPS with style geared towards a controller IE halo?! So I can't agree with the saying "FPS on consoles sucks, because of controller" it does work great and halo CE on PC does not compare well with halo 1 on xbox. Same goes for Wii and its controls with games made for it compared to similar game with different input. You cannot compare the 2, they are different and one has to judge based on the game itself, also you got a huge difference in network coding in CS:S and how it works compared to IE Halo, why? because ping is ******* 100+ in a console game, always, not sometimes, always and the host has fracking zero, like gears of war failed in that because whoever was the host would use the shotgun and always beat anyone 1on1 because of delay and coding while shotgun if you are not the host was not a great gun.

I can go on and on but I recommend to get an idea of how different it is, check like cod black-ops clan match (mlg perhaps) and compare to a CS:S competitive game.

I could go on and on and maybe explain it better but, meh.

Anyway, BF3 sucks and so does MW3Lol

Well, I haven't played those other games you've mentioned on FPS for PS3, but no matter, I have a PC for FPS.

Based on your design points, I surely hope the testing they have done for DUST has actually been on a PS3 and not on a dev-kit with a mouse and keyboard, because by your reckoning, I will hate it.

True, if not then PS3 players wont care and I doubt there is enough eve players to support the game who are used to slick PC FPS games anyway. I think DUST will fail anyway for several reasons, great concept, I applaud them for the risk but I doubt it will work in the end.

I think that is the general consensus, and now they are inbred with Sony, I get the feeling the figures surrounding how many people are playing is going to be closely monitored by both player-bases.

IF it fails, there shall be epic amounts of 'We told you so!"

Hehe yeah many will say that, I will just say good try. The simple fact that they didn't make it for PC was their first mistake. I don't understand CCP at all or what they were thinking of. Good concept but yeah...

It depends on how you choose to look at it, I can see and I understand why CCP want to break into the console market as it is larger than the PC market, but as a PC gamer I want Dust 514 on PC rather than consoles.

We'll see in the coming years.

My doubts about Dust come from the way that many of the more in-depth shooter type games on consoles with a persistent universe either flopped or died after a short amount of time. There has been exceptions of course but most still die or flop.
