Ok, a couple things....

This part is not pvp related --- Marauders used to be the salvaging kings.. Then the noctis came along. Now, it's actually faster to run the mission with your marauder and come back and salvage/loot in the noctis. My suggestion is to put tractors and salvagers fitting on a marauder on par with the noctis. Also being skill related, so every lvl of marauders increases their range, and cycle time of tractors and salvagers to be equivilant with the noctis. The noctis will always be more powerful at salvaging, but the marauder should still be able to run it alone. Most of the time they can't even tractor the wrecks they've created because of range.

It's time for marauders to enter the pvp arena. I suggest that they actually increase the sensor strength of marauders to be more pvp competent. Not to mention when using them for their primary task of missioning, if the mission jams, the marauder pretty much stays locked out the whole time, which is pretty much penalizing those who fly caldari missions because the caldari face off with gurista quite often.

Now, this actually would NOT cause an imbalance in pvp for a few reasons.

1) Marauders are quite expensive, and are actually quite expensive to get a decent fit on them as well, requiring faction and ded mods for a solid tank... All though i'm sure people will find a good solid fit for cheap, the point still applies. So there won't be many of them fielded in pvp due to price alone...

2) Marauders have such a huge sig radius, and are quite slow, so when pitted against another ship in pvp, the odds are the other ship will be able to get solid hit for max effective dps without even using target painters or tracking mods.

3) Marauders could actually be quite useful in pvp due to their dps... the can smash Pos's and capitals fairly quickly, but would be taking a risk to do so because of their size.

4) Compared to other ship classes, marauders appear to be a bit more limited in range, Thus a golem is easily out ranged, and other marauders are either easily out ranged or under ranged depending on their fits

All in all there's not a lot stopping Marauders from being pvp friendly... Pretty much just sensor strength. However, there are other things about marauders that would keep them balanced in pvp as such as size, speed, range, and scan res.

I actually feel that they would be a nice addition to pvp, and them being used in pvp would mean that the Marauder market would actually go somewhere and get more competitive, cause lets face it, not many sell, and the ones that do typically last a long while.

A guy in our corp threw his golem into a battle where we were losing. It was a small gang vs a small gang. The golem came in and they changed primary to the golem. The promply discovered they would have to double their fleet size to take it down. By the time they discovered that everybody had de-agressed and approached the gate.

Then everybody dissappeared through the gate.

The golem came in, took all the incoming damage long enough for everyone to lose their aggression timers and jumped out.

We lol'd as we jumped
