I've given billions to good causes... but none is better than the eve player. I one time gave T'Amber 10 billion in a lottery... gave billions to eve radio... but you know what I've spent most on and feel is the best investment? EvE players. I'm not taking corp members this is not an ad. I have given billions to new eve players. Imagine: You are new to the game and just got battlecruiser and some weird ass pirate offers to bankroll your ships just to get you fighting. By the time I'm done this nub has scammed billions, robbed the corp, and is a real liability in the game. That's f***ing awesome. You should try it. It'll cost you like 2 bil but the show is worth it.

Just sayin'

So, do you think this nub was that way before, or after you gave him billions of ISK? Greedy kids you know.

That being said: It's not hard to feed the greed and watch someone turn into a monster; but it's much more difficult to be philanthropic and steer that person to acts of the opposite nature through guidance, generosity, and authority.

I suppose it's your choice what you end up with in the end.

I don't have billions anyway; I just have 1 billion after everything. I never needed more than millions to encourage someone to be a productive Corp member while providing them with help along the way though. Not always easy, but it is possible if you know where and when to draw the line.

Also, are you sure it was really a nub, and not the Mittani?

How offensive. No I'm not I'm frickin' gogela.

Thee's been so many... they are nubs... and they are now terrorists. I'm very proud. I baited the corp... I figured when you robbed it you were ready. Sometime there would be a guy who would steal like 50 destroyers and quit... I gave them an extra 300 mil as a bonus. They were ready. Corrupting is the best.

I've opened a home for wayward CSM candidates which includes failure therapy, and a slideshow of Iceland. Donations are welcome.

Paradise is like where you are right now, only much, much better.

So, you're saying that you like getting robbed and 'corrupting' people. I don't think you're doing them any favours, though, for 2 reasons. First, you are 'giving man a fish instead of giving him a fishing rod and teaching him how to fish'. Once his wallet runs dry, he might be unhappy about working to make more, and he might be frustrated/disappointed etc.

Secondly, you're promoting this rather selfish attitude. If they try to pull this off with any of the major alliances I imagine they won't just let them go. Sure, they can use an alt, and then transfer assets & biomass, but bringing up an alt to the required level is so much hassle ( and time consuming), and buying one is expensive. And even if they do that, the chances of them ever getting a position which allows them to do so are rather slim. Sure, it can be done, but stealing a few billion from your friendly local Indy Corp is not quite in the same league as stealing 200 billion from BoB, or almost 700 billion with the eve bank scam.

OK... well the selfish attitude serves one well... who wants a position? It could be all about YOU! Isn't that fun? The bar for piracy is low, but the rewards can be high.

Edit: I taught them to fish... and scam big.

I'm just saying that if they want to scam big, they need to get far in the ranks of a major alliance, which is unlikely to happen. Robbing one small Corp after another for a few billion at a time can get a bit boring after a while, and there are better ways of making money.

With regards to piracy, I doubt it's that profitable, unless you enjoy gate camping, looking out for a nice juicy Indy flown by a newbie who thought he could make it through low sec. Sure, it might be fun, but is it really worth it?

Basic English comprehension M8; I was referring to the Newb, not you.

Maybe read more and overreact less; or don't start reading with such a negative attitude.

Philanthropy In EvE is alive and well.

I have been a recipient of it in my early days by none less than a criminal, nasty, kill-you-on-sight griefing pirate. It's the way he plays this game, doesn't mean he's a douchebag.

Consequently, since I became "ISK-ly" sound, I too am a Philanthropist - without prejudice.

Carebear? Hell yes. So what ? My game, my time. I love it.
