Make Shuttles Worth It (Also, Hitchhiker Transportation Rig)

All shuttles are exactly the same gaemplay wise (with the exception of the Interbus Shuttle). In addition, they go fast, but they have tiny cargo bays and aren't very durable. Not to mention that you can't put a single module or rig on them.

My suggestion? Keep it so that they don't require any skills, but give them a bonus if you have a certain skill trained. In addition, make each shuttle have an advantage over eachother. Armor Shuttles would have better armor, Gallente Shuttles would probably have a drone bay (a small one), Caldari shutles would have good shields, and Minmatarr shuttles would be very fast and agile.

In addition, shuttles should also have slightly bigger cargobays. But the Interbus shuttle should still have a larger cargobay compared than the others.

Now onto my other idea: Hitchhiker Transportation Rig

Basically, you can use it to pick up stranded pods and carry them from place to place. They would be great for PvP rescue ships (Interceptors would be very good for this, and they could warp upwards into the combat zone where nobody would be exxpecting them). You could also use it to carry pods through low-sec, or use it to pick up pods sitting outside stargates. However, you could still undock if you were being carried against your will.

How am I trolling? The shuttles honestly don't seem like they are worth it. And my hitchhiker transportation rig does seem pretty cool.

Once again no.

You need to look around and basically youll come to find out that this two people in one ship is a technical impossibility in eve at the moment and because its so gimmicky they are not going to invest time into making it posisble.

Soooo... you want to make shuttles into limited-use frigates that require no skills? How is this any different from noob ships?

FYI: Sometimes you just want to quickly go from point A to point B without dealing with the hideousness of a noob ships. Oh yeah... shuttles also insta-align (more or less), unlike noob ships.

The base code of EVE doesn't support this. Very bad things happen when more than one pilot is in any one ship.

Actually, I don't want to make them like noob ships. Noob ships still require Frigate Skills, not to mention that they need additional skills for the guns they come with.

I was actually just thinking of making the shuttles slightly better.

And I did not know that the Apotheosis had different stats. I'm gonna go check again.

I can think of no circumstances where more tank or a drone bay on a shuttle would ever be useful. Extra speed and agility on a shuttle would be very useful, so all of a sudden minmatar shuttles will be the only shuttle ever used.

If you really want to figure out a way to differentiate shuttles without rendering some obsolete, you need to identify changes that actually add value to the primary uses of a shuttle.

Potential bonuses/differences:
1. Increased warp speed
2. Even more agility
3. Faster speed straight line speed for autopiloters
4. Larger cargo bay

No idea which race would get which bonus, but I think those ones would each be found useful some shuttle users. Obviously, the differences should remain small if there are any.
