A needless change. A minor annoyance.

By the way, since we're already talking, do you want to buy a rifter? I've got the cheapest rifters in Metropolis. If you can find a cheaper rifter, buy it!

I think it was a job well done AND they could have gone further imo, like including the meta information in the name. So much of my time is separating the crap from the good stuff that I applaud change.

So in answer to those ppl that think it wasn't broke - sry but it was ...

I am aware of my own ignorance and have checked my emotional quotient - thanks for asking

I agree with most here, the grammatical choices of the new naming convention is confusing.

What is being limited?
What effect does the limitation have on the module?

Just telling existing players the name of module has changed is fine, because we know what it was and what it now is - think about new players next time?

And woe be the people who create tutorials on your behalf and put them on YouTube, now they all have to be re-done. Grats!

So, what size was the Y-T8 again?

Nah, just kidding. It was a cool name, but better to fit in a hint to the module size and quality somewhere.

Look at turret modules for reference. You have either the gun caliber or keywords like "light" "medium" "heavy" "mega" to identify the module size, and a slightly more understandable way to figure out its meta level "modal" "prototype" etc are meta 4, "limited" and erm...some other stuff were meta 1.
I think with a bit more work they could keep the cool names and still make it clear what a thing is.

If by "good" you mean completely random and non-sensical, then yes.

Agreed. No particular purpose other than primitivization.

I can actually suggest a step ahead - let's rename all mods into something like 'em hardener meta-11'
w00t?

"Being supporters of free speech and free and open [CSM] elections... we removed Fon Revedhort from eligibility". CCP, April 2013.

I assume they mean limited as in limited edition. I don't know how that makes them more efficient.

Personally I like the idea of consolidating names like they did with the missiles, but they could have kept the tech jargon names and still made it easy to tell the level. All they had to do was as the 1MN - 100MN to every mod name and there would be no problem.

Of all the things in game that still need fixing and they waste time re-naming modules and ammo that didn't need it. Way to go ccp...

But don't you think the re-naming could have been done in such a way as to make all (ok, most of) the players happy?

I mean, what is really surprising here is that some people are so ready to accept substandard quality work when better quality was easily attainable. And that includes CCP.
