Faction module prices crashing

It seems like faction module prices in Jita have suddenly crashed. CN Ballistic Controls went from 165 to 100, IN Heat Sinks went from 100 to 55 and RF gyros went from around 130 to 70.

I expect this is related to incursions somehow. Either all the bears have the pimp they want, and stopped buying modules, or they ran out of money because of people ending incursions quickly recently. Either way I didn't expect it to be this sudden. Does anyone know what is going on here?

cnbcs were never at 165. the sinks were never at 100, gyros were never at 130. sure some people listed a string of contracts at that price and a lot of them(faction mods) ended up having 2 price points, but if you browse correctly, you will find a bunch of contracts at the lower price. same thing with imperial enams, some are listed at 50m and some at 100m.

Shocked an imposter!

No, really. While I'm sure you won't believe me, that's not actually me (Goonfleet Investments vs Goonfleet Investment Banking). I do happen to know exactly who it is, though, because he brags about it to me on a regular basis. P

You'll note that if you search for contracts that are actually from my corp, they're all priced to the market, or what the market was when they were posted in the event that I got undercut.

It wasn't me dear friend, as we have just discussed in gs_isk. I am deeply saddened by this change in default contract sorting however.

Goons were milking ISK from stupid players through CCP-fail UI "feature" that now got fixed? Well I would have never thought this to be possible. How shocking and unexpected. Where is your e-honou... oh wait, yeah, Goons.

Nice trick and I'm sure enough clueless players fell for it or you wouldn't have done it. As much as it pains me to admit it, in the sense of "it is morally wrong to allow stupid people to keep their ISK" I approve this product/service. Pirate

More than just goons. Here's the Faction Wholesale mailing list post from yesterday.

Quote:
Greetings,

In this most recent patch there has been a huge change in the way the contract interface works which has been slipped in without appearing in the notes. This has made my current business structure unsustainable. Therefore I am forced to temporarily place all buying on hold. I apologise for the inconvenience, this was an unforseeable and unmentioned change in the way contracts works.
Should I be able to resume buying I will let you know.
Sorry

Translation: "CCP just broke my business model" Lol

Good thing my sales are legit. :p

Actually most of you have no clue whatsorever. The "manipulating" on factions mods were going since like a year when -West and Grey- started it big time and others followed. He ( yes West and Grey and associated corps were only 1 guy) earned about 1trillion ISK and recently passed it on to some guys who are now more or less fracked and sitting literally on thousands of factions mods which aren't selling anymore. I guess at the end they will come out even on it but it will be a pain to sell all those mods now.

I know that several other guys who jumped on that wagon a year ago earned so much ISK most of you can't even dream about.

I would hardly say fracked. My wallet is looking pretty nice.

Hilarious... I had no idea because I was "advanced" enough to know how to properly sort the contracts by the cheapest, so all those overpriced ones never showed up. In retrospect the whole "trick" is so simple and so obvious that I'm sad I missed the gravy train on this one... Big smile

I guess I should never underestimate the stupidity of average EVE player and all that...

So I guess some people have a huge stock of faction mods to offload now... cue actual price crash in 3..2..1...?

Not in a hurry to sell. All is fine.
By people you overestimate the people involved in this. It was merely 3 people actively doing it with stockpiles and **** and a few more who just leeched from it with a few contracts day.

I expect a crash, though it would be due to people who we selling to X ATM092 there having to sell their own stuff and warring prices down. On the other hand, he expects a spike, as people who were previously buying from him out of ignorance were not affecting the low end of the price now will be...and to hear him tell it the volume was impressive. There's also the effort factor of dealing with contracts...my business thrives because people hate dealing with the system; this would help his theory.

I haven't looked at it enough to really be able to decide one way or the other, but I don't have money to bet as it is right now...so Istead, I share the thoughts on both sides and watch the sparks fly. Twisted

Will be interesting. I suppose actual consumption remains unchanged, it's just as you say more independent sellers than before. Whilst I haven't flogged to X ATM I did used to lob a good amount to Kobian when his prices were within a couple mil or so of the low point.

Now, Kobian stopped a month or so back and, as far as I've seen, the result hasn't really been a drop in prices. Sure we had X ATM taking up the reins (correct me here if wrong, X ATM = Faction Wholesale yep?) but, and with the greatest of respect, I never got the impression he has/had the capacity that Kobian had, so I'm guessing he didn't take as many from bulk resellers.

I'm not sure it'll make a huge difference. The bulk resellers naturally had / have the dissa-prin that a large number of small independent sellers might not have (resulting in price wars) but with the loss of one big reseller a month or so back not appearing to have a significant effect on prices I think things will stay stable-ish. Meh, if not, move onto something else until it's better again.

Anyway, side note, I owe the OP and her most vociferous supporter an apology. I was quite grumpy and aggressive in yesterday's responses, assuming their motives to be some weak manipulation attempt. I wasn't aware that default ordering had changed and as such it's apparent that the OP's conclusion that prices have plummeted from 165 to 100m to be a result of.... well.... ignorance. Now, being grumpy and aggressive toward poor manipulation attempts is one thing, but toward the ignorant is neither big nor clever (though occasionally funny). So for yesterday's grumpiness I apologise.

I never thought people are really that stupid, not to realise, how to sort the contracts and that there are enough of them to sustain this business model.

I whitnessed that "scam" over and over....

Contract Trading is fun, because if you choose your module right, you can manipulate a price with only 10 bil invested.

I had great fun with the Cerebral Accelerator which was given away from CCP and people sold it for 20-50 mil. Price was at 300 mil and is now at 250 and rising slowly...
