Thank you, GM Sparkle, for restoring Bumblefck's good name (literally)...

The tl;dr story: Some rapscallion man-child reported Bumble's name as offensive / GMs did a trawl for names and someone got overzealous (I think it's the former though, as Bumble has had this character since 2008, so Bumble smelt something was not right). X

Bumble got demoted to the land of 'Gallente Citizen 20122401' or somesuch and, as you can guess my friends, Bumble was not a happy moustachio. Oops

However, Bumble took the correct path of action and petitioned it. Bumble knew that something was amiss. Idea


So Bumble petitioned it, and waited... What?


...and waited... Roll


...and waited... Blink


...and finally BLAMMO! Bumble's good name was restored to it's former glory, along with a partial explanation as to what had happened (still don't know how it was picked up though, probs never will), and all is right with the world and with Bumble.

So this thread is just a thank you to GM Sparkle and the other GMs who actually read the petitions. I had to wait a while (a little less than a week, I think), but I got it sorted. Thank you Sparkles!




PS. Why talk in the third person? Because I'm so happy that my name has been restored to me and I just want to shout it from the rooftops! \Big smile/

I, too, am happy to see you restored and back in all your former glory.
Looking forward to some quality posting that will raise the average quality of this board significantly.

It's a shame this took any time at all or that it happened in the first place. A name can be really important to a person, and more importantly to how people view that person. Why should someone trust a Racial Citizen 12345678 with director access, or remember it was Racial Citizen 12345678 that helped raise your corporation from dust and not Racial Citizen 87654321? This is a pretty serious thing, I'd rather lose all my ISK and items than lose my name for all the shame that it bears.

I don't hope for people to get upset about something CCP (and the people it empowers) very often, but if there's something that people need to raise hell about, it's indiscretions like this.

Thank you! My thoughts exactly. Basically, when I logged in that fateful day and saw the rather terse message from GM Spiro, I'd kinda lost the will to play with this character anymore. I mean, I felt like a huge part of my identity had been ripped away, and was left with this hollow shell.


Sounds melodramatic but that's how I felt Cry And you're right, these matters should really be given the highest priority (there wasn't even a shitting section on the petition system for things like this, so I almost had to close my eyes and stick a pin in it).

To be honest when I read your name it always translates here in my head as bumble 'fu' followed by a 'ck'.
Of course it should be pronounced as bumbleEFCEEKAY.


But I've seen and reported more offensive names then yours.
So I think you got your name rightfully restored. Smile

At the beginning of each year, CCP sends all the player data to Chribba, and Chribba decides who is allowed to keep on playing in the coming year..that`s some scandinavian new years tradition.
