New Names! (for Missiles and Meta-Speed-Mods) Do you like them?

Do you like the new names?

Was it a good step?

Was it necessary?

Clear HELL NO on all 3 from myself, but what about YOU?!?

[edit:]

From reading what people post, and thinking about it:

This is NEX Store 2.0!

This is squeezing cold hard cash out of EVE at the expense of us players!

Taking away substance, just to make the game more appealing to the wow-crowd!

Be prepared to have ALL modules named the same, soon!

Did you invent these names (it sounds like you did, and are looking for approval)?

No, no and no.

Yes i like the new names as now i dont have to check which is a mwd or ab in the name. Its linear and easier to understand. Was it a good step, yes. Was it necessary, no

Yes, I complain about things I don't like.

It was fairly easy to memorise the existing mods - and their indirect naming scheme added something to the game which has now been lost, in the name of CCP's streamlining process.

It improves the new player experiance, makes eve just that little bit less complicated, only downside, is if you search the damage type of the missile, its alot of scrolling...

Overall something we wont care about in a few weeks, much like the font :P

I got used to the MWD/AB mods.. but guns are an entirely different issue (both rails and projectiles have a "prototype" meta, but one is meta 3, the other is meta 4).

Part of me likes them (easier to remember), but part of me feels for those programming killboards and such... because now everything is broken.

Renaming missiles was stupid idea.

Get classic forum style - custom videos to captains quarters screen

I'm not a big fan of them at all. I will dearly miss my bloodclaw missles.

The new AB/MWD names are 10 flavors of bland, and they're no less confusing than they were before to boot. Is prototype better than experimental? Improved is "obviously" better than prototype, experimental is probably better than limited. But the whole thing makes just as much sense backwards as it does forwards.

A much much better solution to the problem of finding a particular mod or missile is just fixing search. Why does the name of an item have to be the only thing that search can find? Why can't I just type "KIN HAM" and have it understand what I'm trying to find. It wouldn't even be difficult to manually enter the most common terms for things. It doesn't have to work perfectly in every case, just the tiniest bit of intelligence would go a long way to make things easier to find without watering down the richness of the universe.

HELL NO!

****** Names dont do this, and why you think some new player would be unable to do what we all did?!
If a new player is that dumb, he wont stay long before gb2wow.

Just what I thought, and I WILL MISS my dear Scourge Fury! Cry

What is wrong with knowing from the name what kind of missile it is?!
Now I will mix them all up as they are all the same, what is next?! Same Naming for Ships?!?!

so...at least in voicechat Scourge Missiles and Scorch Crystals will never be confused again. ...

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

Did we get free blueprints or other free stuff to pacify the whiners over the name change? If not, I don't like them, no. Whatever they are.

I like the Microwarpdrive and Afterburner renaming, it makes things easier.

The missile renaming I do not like, I could always tell by the picture of the missile anyway so the work of telling one damage flavor from another was never difficult.

will take a little time to get used but I like it.

complexity is important for EVE but it should revolve around decisions and trade-offs (imho getting rid off learning skills was an example for bad removal of meaningful complexity) - not around memorizing the names of missiles

Also there's no rational need for missiles to be special - my laser crystals, hybrid charges, projectiles have always had names that represent the damage type, no matter their size.

I don't like the name-clash between "Prototype" meta4 ABs/MWDs, "Prototype" meta4 hybrid guns and "Prototype" meta3 projectile guns.

It makes no sense to change the names of these modules... noobs still have to learn which level meta the items are and vets have to relearn dumbed down but still obtuse new names for items.

i typed 'scourge' into market as before this patch

nothing is happen UghUghUgh

then i navigationed through menu to missiles to find out new name of "scourge" (guys it is "trauma")

so i typed "trauma" into market search instead of "scourge"

i get all missiles in eve??? UghUghUgh

i just locked an open door.. strange, yet symbolically compelling.

...and dont forget if you want to link an item now ingame, it gives you ALL of that flavour at once! -.-

What would have been good names?!

Whenever I hear Mjoellnir I will think of torpedos...

Scourge instead of Trauma would have been much better, but still, this should be reversed back to how it was!

Is there a thread yet where I can sign up to get the old names back? (at least for missiles)

It seems pointless, and in the spirit of reducing the amount of competence, reading, and neural activity required to play the game. That, and how reasonable is it that dozens of companies are releasing so many 'prototype' and 'experimental' products on the market? If they're going to do that, why not just let us strap bottle rockets on the hull and call it an 'experimental thruster'.
