Navy ships variations?

Not sure if discussed before.
Just wondering what people would think about introducing navy ships variations :
when using your LP to buy a navy omen for example, it would be slightly different if bought from an amarr, khanid or ammatar corp...
It would use their respective colour scheme and have minor stats and bonus variations, or any other thing to add more variety...
It seems a bit pointless to only differentiate them with a skin though as it would only split market entries for nothing, a proper skin selection system, while still useless would be better...
Just a thought, what are yours?...

We don't need more mostly pointless variety. All that would do is add more DB overhead with little to no real gain anywhere. 99% of the time people would end up just flying the one that had the best stats for that ship's role and the other variations would be completely ignored.
