Okay I've been playing EVE for about 5 months or so now. I've spent almost all of that time missioning solo. Recently I joined a small but solid corp witha primary focus on Wormhole and low/nullsec PvP.
as of this writing I can fly any basic Minmatar ship up to Battlecruisers and am currently skilling up for Cov Ops frigates.

I'm debating whether or not to do a remap (as i dont want to FUBAR it) to get some primary/secondary support skills toa decent level and open up options for tech 2 ships. I already ahve fairly solid Gunnery skills up to Med turret specialization. Should I remap into Int/mem and focus on training Engineering/electronics/drones (drones being tertiary ) now or should i go more towards a remap focusing on ship piloting skills and large turret specialization etc?

My goal is to have more flexibility in fleet ops in regards to what I bring to the fleet without having to sacrifice personal milestones (IE cov ops and them Battleships)

Well,

a link to eveboard would help a lot to get a better overview about what the current status of your support skills is.

Oh and it would also help if you could specify "what I bring to the fleet" since it can be your personal preference or corp requirements. :)

Without knowledge of anything of these:

If you haven't already done, make sure you get a concrete idea of what you exactly need, i.e. what's it that "brings more".

As soon as you've found out, e.g. a concrete ship and fit, make sure you are able to fit it properly. If skills are lacking, train them up so you're able to use what you want to. Since lvl IV in most supportives is okay for the beginning, fix where they're lacking -> profit.

As you are Minnie, you are already in need of everything, means missiles, gunnery, shield, some armor, drones.
Don't waste your time training lvl V's at the beginning if not necessary. which also makes it more easy to relinquish a remap for now.

Safe your remap(s) for the time where you are able to fly everything you need to be happy with for a longer period so that you're able to train a lot of Vs in a row.

This is the method I always used and still use nowdays.

Ninja Edit:
EvEMon can help a lot figuring out which attribute mapping saves you the most time.

For first year players: I generaly advise AGAINST the hardline remap. You know, where you max out one attribute and top off the secondary. Save maybe 4 of those points to put into 2 other attributes. So you have a main focus, (perceptio/willpower E.G.) and a bit of help in a secondary attribute group,(Intel/memory)

In all my time, this is the first year I have actualy done a hardline remap. But I was sure I didn't want any odd skills for the next year when I committed.

As mentioned above: Load up EveMon and make a plan or 3.

I would train for a scimitar and a sabre. Those two ships will get you into a lot of different fleet setups.

You mentioned, you are in a solid corp. Furthermore, this corp is in a 0.0 alliance which use certain specific setups. Due to being low on sp, like any new player, try to figur out what might be of use in fleet ops, roams and PVE. The above suggested Scimitar comes to mind.

tl;dr 1) find out what is expected of players in your alliance/corp. 2) Considering which ships might allow for you to participate in several ingame activities.

it would help to know what your current attributes are before advising on weather or not to remap. Also, don't be afraid to train the core skills you need just because they're out of your current attribute specialization.

It's short term v.s. long term reward.

Nothing more then that.

If you can hold out for long term go for it.

If you can't then don't.

Even if your not at either extream only you know where your personal happy medium is.

Do what you feel is right. The forums can't help much on this.

Depends on what you're attributes are now.

Though you wouldn't be the first pilot that runs in to trouble for not having core and deffence skills at the propper lvl.

Look at your most used ships, and how much strenght they'll get when you trein up core skills and defence skills.

As someone mentioned above . . . I've found that flying Logistic ships such as a Scimitar allows you to focus on a small amount of skills while maxing out other skills. 0.0 corps call for many different fleet types as the FoTM changes and following a dozen different fleet types will FUBAR your new toon as you scramble to train for CTA fits. Focus on Logi although you won't be getting on as many killmails and yes as someone mentioned a Sabre. This will allow you to get into any shield fleet with the Scimitar and any other fleet with the Sabre. Don't rush your first year or you'll regret it later as you have to go back and fix dozens of skills down the road.
