how to attract new players

From what I've gathered from this forum over the years, playing EVE involves the correct emotional reaction when a player with five years on you vaporizes your ship and runs off with all your ISK. That doesn't require playing the game at all to learn. A few sessions with a hammer on the toes without grimacing should do the trick, and the level difference would then make no difference.

Ahem...the gentlemanly thing to do is roll a new toon and play as a beginner with the beginner. Either that, or dissuade the "friend" of the notion you'll ever be playing together..."but if you ever have a question, feel free to ask." It's fundamentally impossible to find compatability until the friend catches up to you in some fashion. Being able to tank and arm a battlecruiser should put most people within range of playing alongside more advanced players...and surviving. That doesn't take all that long. Keeping your "friend" interested and engaged while having abandoned him to his EVE-fate might be kind of difficult though...if you catch my drift.

Paradise is like where you are right now, only much, much better.
