Conflict Drivers in 0.0

Improving 0.0 PVP I think has a lot to do with the fact that there really isn't a good reason to go to war. Not to mention that there is little reason to conquer eachother's territory, especially when you're systems are pretty much identical to theirs and the only thing having more systems will do to you, is cost you more money to maintain sov. Used to be that this was nested in super-capital production, but with super caps becoming more popular than ravens, we're struggling to see the point in fighting over this.

So, I wanted to dedicate a thread to the creation of 0.0 conflict drivers, which would greatly increase the amount of warfare. Reading the CSM notes makes me think that CCP is still brainstorming, so i'd like our 2 ISK in on this before they invent some horrible feature.

Here's my little idea
POS killer cannon:

No one hates bashing poses more than I do. The idea behind this is the death star (didn't this force a conflict between the Rebel Alliance and the Empire?). Basically a POS gun (which will leave a POS vulnerable to a Doolittle raid) that can fire a doomsday laser through a cynosurial jump field. This laser deals enough alpha to throw a POS into re-enforced, or destroy it entirely when it comes out of re-enforcement. It has an alternate mode where it can be used like a titan DD in a defensive space battle. *que Admiral Ackbar quote* Each firing comes at a high fuel cost, as well as a 24-48 hour cool down (subject to balancing) between shots

Pros:
-Encourages invasion raids into hostile territory with small ships (since the system will probably be cyno jammed)
-Reduces the grind on POS bashing, which is entirely too long
-really super cool graphic effect
-high level ISK sink

Balances:
-Requires Cyno generation to fire (which means your faction actually has to be present in target system with at least ONE ship, and cyno jammers must be down)
-High fitting costs requires 'death star' pos to be defended by a fleet rather than POS guns (thus encouraging sub-cap conflict)

please, post your own ideas!

We already have supercap blobs that can blap towers (and subcap fleets) in minutes, and you think we should add another superweapon to the game?

You are dumb.

Stop suggesting things for areas of the game you clearly have no experience in.

Sigh.

Cyno's lit, bridge is up, but one pilot won't be jumping home.

Would be interesting to see. To continue with your star wars reference is it open to a single photon torpedo to be destroyed? Bear

To encourage conflict in null you would have to vastly improve the concept of resource scarcity of one mineral or another in each region... then check the blueprints to make sure you require a scarce mineral from EVERY region just to make Supercaps (for example). This would encourage movement among the masses.

there was a time when AoE doomsdays were capable of being fired through cynos.

there is a reason for the removal of that capability.

Superweapons doesn't incite combat.
For your analogy the deathstar in Star wars didn't spark the rebellion, it was a oppressive regime so not really fitting within eve.
Hatred and grudges are the conflict drivers in eve. (or pretty explosions whatever rocks you boat)

I think the idea of converting every pos in a large star system, or constellation, should be enough to tell you this is dumb.

Just like titans and SCs, they will end up everywhere, and become a tool everyone fields in mass numbers instead of actual ships.

Inappropriate signature removed, CCP Phantom.

Yeah, there are no wars happening in 0.0 right now.

I recall something similar about titans. Well it was supposed to be the case. But enough titans, and well

Wait what? Did you just say there are no oppressive regimes in EvE? Just want to make sure I heard you correctly.....
