This is in regards to the agent training missions: I've done the two combat ones fine, and into stage 6 of the industry one,... really struggling with this though. I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but I've pretty much hit a brick wall with this. I can't seem to find one at a 100% - the closest I got was about 80%, but then when I tried to reorganise my probes closer to this one they appear to have lost it.... was I doing something wrong?

Does anyone have any tips, as it is beginning to try my patience after about 2 hours at it...? I've read the guide, but that hasn't really helped much.

Thanks for your time :)

Been a while, but lets see:

First, use the correct ship. Each race has a frig that gives bonus to scanning.

Second, make sure you scan down the correct site. When I did my tutorials, scanning was almost ridiculously easy, so I assume those scanning training sites are much easier than "normal" sites.

Last, launch all probes and try to set them up first in a kind of X, then in a pyramidical fashion around the signature.... space has 3 dimensions, after all. Slowly shorten their range one step at a time and move the probes in so that all of them overlap on the signature. Repeat till you get to 100%.

Thanks for the reply mate. I had the filter set to the correct one, and was using the Burst for scanning. Had some help in game, so hopefully when I try again later will be able to find it.Big smile

Hi,

There is a very good CCP tutorial on you tube that relates to scanning and the use of probes.

Simply put, you need at least 4 probes but I use 5 with the 5th being the 'anchor' and centered on the site/ship you are probing out. the other 4 surround the anchor probe in a + pattern, ie one up, one down, one left, one right.

Then starting at the probes maximum range, start to reduce it, always making sure all 4 probes overlap the site. Keep decreasing the probe range and % hit on the site should start to go up.

You may have to move all probes to keep the anchor on the target site - the you tube tutorial explains this in a simple and visual way.

Good hunting.

Cool

I had a similar experience with one of the probing missions (I'm assuming you're in the exploration tutorial rather than the industry one).

I just re-called all my probes and started again.

You might want to investigate the EVE University series "How to survive EVE Online" by Seamus Donohoe. The immediately relevant episode is 34: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-eDA-Aceve8

All sorted now, breezed through the training missions - they really were quite simple to find!
