How do I "friend" someone?

Hi, I was in a private chat with someone who mentioned that they would "friend me". I couldn't find an option to do so for someone. Could anyone please advise? Does it mean simply to add a contact and to assign them a standing manually for my own people and places list?

You hit the nail on the head!

"Friending" simply means adding that person as a contact, presumably with positive standings. You might do this by right-clicking the pilot's icon in chat, selecting "Add Contact", then picking one of the five standings, then clicking "Add Contact".

However EVE being EVE it's important to remeber that trust in this game can take a long time to develop.

And also remember that even if you feel like you can trust someone,some people wont hesitate to sacrefise the entire friendship just to get a chanse to robb you blind.

Some people will be willing to wait for months,or even years before they do something. Others just have a fall out with your or your corp and decide that thefts or similar is the "best" way to get payback.

But even if you have to be paranoid,dont let it stop you from trying to get to know someone. Just be casius and never take it for granted that someone wont do something to hurt you,or your corp members.
