Why do people keep discussing religion, politics, celebrities, sports, beauty care and cars?

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

you misunderstand me. This specific topic comes up, is thoroughly discussed then rediscussed by the same people as if starting from scratch. Its not like anything has changed in the game that is going to change the responses that will follow in this thread.

I have changed. My ideas and opinions are constantly evolving. Also, I was not satisfied with the last thread like this. It was "missing something."

Simplified your OP.

edit: you disagree? Do you actually believe this ****?
Quote:
"Yeah, children like games they can cheat at, while adults want something challenging and even handed "
"Not true. Mature people want something challenging or even handed. A lot of people just want to escape the rigours of real life and act immaturely. After all 'win at any cost' is immature, as is being over competitive."
"It is not winning if you have to change who you are."
"Indeed, it's why it's immature."
Among other things, I take the gravest objection to your use of the word "Cheat". Unless we're referring to RMTers, Botters, and exploiters (defined as people who make use of exploits that have been specifically announced by CCP as exploits), I can think of very few cheaters in EVE.

I also object to your description of people who view the game differently as children or immature.

Easier than saying all the things that fall under it, bait canning, fraud, ninja looting, infiltration, et cetera.
As for "immature" and childish, there is no denying that there are many puerile people in EVE, teens and adults. People who spend a lot of time online, self included, are usually not the most balanced, well adjusted and social of people. My opinion stands.

Empire dwellers run the same missions and kill the same rats over and over again. Why wouldn't they discuss the same thing over and over again?

Next up; the thread about how the CSM is a CCP shill and/or shadowy nullsec Goon/PL/TEST illuminati of puppet masters manipulating the game towards their own ends.

Also the standard Empire pubbie bitchfest on how Goonswarm are generally ruining the game despite the only contact most people have with them is via the forums. This can be merged with the last one or started as a seperate thread

Then next on the agenda we've got yet another thread about people's goddamn character portraits.

After that we've got the threads about the average mission runner's take on supercapital pvp and other nullsec warfare issues.

Also confirming that the OP is a massive sperglord/troll.

In the same vein:

Null sec slaves just blob and blob and blob but keep standing down or they just rat and rat and rat or they just gate camp. What can you expect them to talk about?

- Next up, thread about how pubbies must be forced out to null sec so that they can be slaughtered by the dwellers there as they have blued everyone and are bored.
- Followed by a thread about how worm holes must be nerfed because "How dare anyone else make the same more more ISK without being a null slave?!"
- Another after that about how Incursions must be changed and L4 missions moved to low sec, to "turn off ISK faucets"
- Liberal posts by Goons the usual trolls to drown out any objections.
- Thread about how high sec must be cut up so that you can't get to the other three trade hubs without going through low or null sec, so that they can have it easier to camp and leech off the high sec players.
- Thread whining about AFK cloakers.
- Thread whining about SOV
- Thread whining about high sec player flying on ship with expansion mods on it. "How dare they fly anything besides a T1 ship with T1 mods?!"
- Thread about how awesome Mittens is.
- Thread about how evil Mittens is.
- Thread whining about Pandemic Legion hot dropping.

So forth and so on. Null-seccers are no better.

Can baiting (bait canning, lol) is not cheating. It's only classed as a bannable offence, if done in newbie systems and rightly so.

If by fraud you mean scams, then it's not cheating.

Ninja looting, not cheating and in fact just had a boost.

Infiltration, again not cheating. So why use the term, when it does not apply?

Bored bittervets looking for a reason to keep paying for their accounts? ;-)

Personally I play to have fun and have an escape from the drudgery that is real life.

I may never be rich, handsome or well hung, My wife may have a permanent "head-ache" and my children may turn my hair grey and drive me to an early grave. but I can log in and pretend to be a startship captain for a few hours every night and watch my allies #^$^ up local while we smash someone else's space castle :)

Cheating people out of their ISK, cheating them out of their lives and so forth. You can be pedantic and knit pick over a word used for a general all encompassing sweep or you can get on and let people talk about something interesting.

Do you deny this?

Not saying they're Illuminati or anything; but isn't that the general definition of meta-gaming in Nullsec and Empire? I mean, why else would Mittani go to all the trouble to infiltrate nearly every organization in EVE and earn the title Spymaster for his efforts?

Honestly, you must be daft not to realize it's essentially the same thing; or that you yourself are involved in it to one degree or another; or even simply to deny the existence of such activities.

It happens; we all know it; get over it. It's a game.

I do a lot. Mostly right now I steal loot and salvage things in Amarr when people fight and expect it to be fair.
I do that because I play in class, and sometimes need to alt-tab and not worry about what goes on when I am AFE (away from EVE).

When home...
I mine (for my corp mostly).
I set my planets to run.
I once in a while run a mission (waiting for Large Energy Turret 5 to finish for my BS... takes soooooo long).
I sometimes gank, usually fail at it though because I keep trying to take down Hulks in dessies (haven't tried since the buff).
I fly around lowsec watching people in my bomber... however its fit for ratting so I don't actually shoot at people.
I shoot corp mates... hmmm maybe shouldn't mention that one.

I could have been a miner in real life. Didn't want that! I could have been a market analyst or accountant in real life. Didn't want that.
So I sure can't see doing it in a video game for 'fun'. Maybe if I play to 100mil SP, but I doubt it.

My biggest 'choice' is to rabidly adhere to the 'intent' of the game. That is, I have only this one toon. This one account.
To me, what makes Eve so cool is that one toon can do anything. I know people disagree, but to me, running alts and multiple accounts is totally missing the point of this game. Any RPG really, but for waaaay too many players- Eve is little more than a calculator that requires a graphics card.

I don't mean going all RP or anything- just that I enjoy NOT powergaming. I laugh at all the threads on the forums where people ask for win-button skill builds or ship fittings. Anyone asking about isk/hour is really in need of professional help.

The choice to play an awful lot- according to my wife- but still remain casual about what is, a game, is what drives most everything else I do in Eve.

Avatar- about 5 minutes to slap together, like the mohawk- I have one in RL but it's not red. Race, backstory- didn't matter much as I knew I could train anything.

I knew coming into Eve that it would pay to have patience, so I stuck with it doing care bear crap for too darn long...but it really is a great game if you remember that it is one-- and find The Right Five Guys (tm)

If there is one thing I would pimp to people about Eve- it's that even at modest SP, having The Right Five Guys (tm) and a jump clone completely changes Eve. With a grasp of the rules and some killer instinct, The Right Five Guys can make a name for themselves in New Eden.

Some people do take Eve too seriously. They're fun to troll or shoot, because they get mad.

I fly frigates, because they are fun, cheap, fast, underestimated, and pretty much the best ships ever.
