Unexpected L4 Mission

So, yesterday I completed all the COSMOS missions as well as the Data Center Missions driving my standings up with Caldari Navy to 9.25. Only did it cause bored and to get better results from Caldari sub corp R&D agents.

So, today while just lurking in Jita suddenly an entire fleet came in red and was destroyed by the Caldari Navy leaving half a dozen battleship wrecks. I grabbed a NOCTIS and started salvaging the ships. As soon as I salvaged one of them it instantly ttriggered a surprise faction mission for Caldari Navy.

It was an L4 Forgotten Outposts with 11 Battleships to destroy. As I have not done many L4's had to bring a helper. Was nice to finish, brought my standings up almost 10% to 9.5 with Caldari Navy.

Has anyone ever seen that salvaging a wreck destroyed by the Caldari Navy will trigger an unexpected L4 mission? I am assuming it was L4 due to my standings as I have never run a solo L4, much less 16 in row.

Nor have I. I suppose that confirms it as rare. I have to give Kudos to CCP.

Thanks for something unexpected.

Probably just that the Lvl IV COSMOS missions/datacenters counted towards your 16 missions to a storyline and you just happened to get the storyline offer as you were salvaging the wreck.

It's CCP guis, there's no way they coded in some chance based salvaging special mission mechanic into the game.

Except for the fact that I have only run 2 L4 missions solo, ever. There were only 4 L4 COSMOS mission (=6), hadn't been
mission running since before downtime and had just been logged in sitting there when all the reds came in and got obliterated.

All the times in the past when getting the Storyline mission it was within one minute of finishing the 16th normal mission, not the next day just seemingly at random. This mission for the Caldari Navy was in fact triggered by salvaging a battleship wreck destroyed by the Caldari Navy.

Sometimes there's a delay in getting storyline offers through Eve mail.

There's actually 9 different level 4 Caldari Cosmos agents located in the Okkelen constellation and 1 level 4 Caldari Cosmos agent located in Kenobanala System (low sec) for a total of 10 level 4 Cosmos agents. Most of these agents usually give multi part missions (3 to 5 parts), each part adds to the count towards a storyline offer.

There's also 3 different level 4 Data Center agents.

That puts the total at 13 agents, plus you mentioned R&D agents? Completing R&D missions will also add to the count for storyline.

Over time everything adds up and you could easily have completed the required 16 missions for the storyline offer.

I think this is more likely to be the case.

I'd concur. Now, if this does turn out to be repeatable in some way that would be interesting, but so far Occam is pointing to a standard storyline.

Okay then I would probably have to agree that this is correct. I did not realize that multiple part missions each count as one of the 16 for a story line.

It just seems extremely ironic that a full day later after having done nothing but lurking near Jita and then salvaging a battleship destroyed by Caldari Navy appeared to have triggered a Caldari Navy mission as if almost instantly within the very second that the ship was salvaged.

It's kind of sad to think that CCP may actually not be that creative as to include and event like that in the code. But it sure as hell looked like that was what happened.

As no one else has reported it, seems opinions other than my own may in face be correct.

i got this mission shortly after i reprocessed 5 hulks.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value
