EVE has numerous awards for its beautiful visuals, nevertheless, evil tongues call it “the space excel”, and not without reason. To have control over the battlefield, one has to zoom the camera out so far from one's ship, that only grey squares are visible. And squares are not very informative in the way of ship's alignment and weapons strapped on. One can learn all that, but only by zooming on to a selected ship, wasting time.

Proposal: “Tactical” (button summoning distance grid around one's ship) could be updated. On top of the grid, it should have an option to magnify (scale up) ships models proportionally to camera zoom. So that, no matter the distance, all ships will be distinctly visible. Magnification settings should be similar to “overview settings” with options:

  • Own ship (on/off)
  • Other ships (all ships / locked ships / ships with certain standing/ ships with certain alliance etc.)

Advantages:
1. Generally better-looking game, one can actually see ships in space.
2. More information on battlefield without extra effort.
3. Easier emergence for new players due to visualisation.

Disadvantages:
1. Increased hardware requirements.
2. Possible workarounds to implement.
