Audit log secure containers and only "view" permission set for the character in the corp.

Alot of corporations use large audit log containers, station containers, and station warehouses entrusting lower level corp mates wont be able to steal as much, to limit theft. This is a false sense of security.

We have the ability to grant "view" and "take" permissions for "other", "based at" and "headquarters" for each member.

The view permission is suppose to, whether you intended or not, allow people to open containers within the hangar and use the container based on password and settings, without allowing people to take the actual container out of the hangar. this is NOT how it works though.

Currently, in order for us to use audit log containers we have to give characters both view and take permissions, allowing them to defeat the entie purpose of the secure cans. IF they want to steal everything, they can just take the entire can, the secure audit logs, and leave no trace of who did it, repackaging them after a while.

Make the system work correctly, allowing people to USE things in a hangar when setting only view permission, no take permissions, to not let them take the actual containers out, just their contents based on passwords of the containers.

Now what other purpose is the "view" permissions for. To allow poeple to stare at stuff in the hangar? Its suppose to allow people to use containers inside the hangar but not take the actual containers out or any items outside of the container out of the hangar.

Also, make this behavior the same for "corporate hangar arrays". Corporate hangar arrays dont let anyone use any audit log containers whether they have view/take permissions or not. It would be nice to count corporate hangars in the same system as "based at" if they are in the same system as someone is based at.

Also make sure the container "take" permissions are applied to containers within the same corresponding division hangar as selected for the division of the container. If i select "container take permission" on division 7, if that container is in division 7 hangar for either based at, other, or headquarters the corp member should be able to take from that division container in the same dvision hangar; the division hangar the container is in should be used as the actual division when it comes to permissions.

I thought I was losing my mind, but the original post confirms for me that there are a number of issues associated with Station Containers.

First of all: Hangar Access and Container Access should remain separate.

I want to be able to deploy a Station Container into a particular hangar and grant people the ability to both view and take items from the hangar -- NOT including the container. Having the Hangar access of "take" dictate that the person can also take from the container but not take the container itself makes sense. But it does not work that way currently.

I wanted to have the Station Container server as an audit log generator... not a password protected feature. I don't want to set passwords on depositing and taking stuff from the container. Therefore, I want to configure the container to have no passwords (except on "View Log"). No matter what I tried, no one could get things out of the container. With or without a password the message when they try to unlock an item in the container is "You must have the Config Equipment role". Huh? That's a role even higher than Container Access... which is something I didn't even want to grant.

It is a CEO's responsibility to understand and use the permissions correctly; they are extremely hard to understand at the best of times, but if they actually don't work the way they're supposed to it becomes much much harder.
