The (relatively) new turret effects suck.

Anyone else less than impressed with the changes to turret effects? Used to be, my Megathron would fire a glorious broadside wave of pure energy. My Hurricane would shoot a bright, destructive looking wad of lead. It's all toned down now, and I'm not a fan. It's a sad day when the ewar effects on a ship are ten times more noticeable than the guns it's firing. You can't even tell someone is shooting you now without the overview.

Also, an actual "hit" animation on ships that are being shot would be awesome, a la Homeworld 2.

TL;DR bring back the older, exaggerated turret effects! (You can leave the gun misses and staggered firings if you want.)

I never liked the lines drawn from target to attacker by Arti's and such. Kind of silly when you think about it.

A muzzle blast and impact would be enough. Lasers require it of course, though it might not be visible from the side; as light only refracts off dust/particles to be visible to anything but the point in front of it. Similarly, hybrids visibility is going to be limited like projectiles; though the effect on the target might be different.

Sorry, don't mean to rain on your parade. Actually haven't seen any new effects either. Only think I've fired since I got back on is lasers.

1. Obviously you haven't seen the new artillery effect, or lack thereof I should say.

2. Blaster shots are literally waves of superheated plasma, as in, the stuff the sun is made from. So, they should be bright and awesome.

3. No offense, but if you haven't seen the new effects it doesn't make sense to comment on them. Smile

I've said it once and I'll say it again: It looks as if my blaster Domi is shooting forth a firehose of milk.

I agree, broadside > pewpewpewpewpew. If I wanted my guns to shoot in 0.1 second intervals, I'd ungroup them.

I can only imagine you come from some sort of parallel dimension where the turret effects have been made worse instead of much better...

No accounting for taste I guess. Personally, I think the new effects are superior in every way to the old.

I can only imagine you were yourself sucked through the parallel dimension, losing all concept of time and space, trapped in an endless spiral loop where bad things are good and good things are bad...

What the hell am I talking about?

what bugs me is that the firing effect of dual 425 ACs is brighter then that of 800s

But a lot of the other effects could be changed too...

I heard though, that CCP was working a set of new effect to match the new Incarna guns, maybe they'll be in the next expansion or snuck into Crucible 1.5 or something...

He did name his ship Peter North

When the changes first went through I thought that they removed turret effects altogether. =(

small point

how many of you have gfx on full and all options on?
could this be yet another case of limiting yourself from seeing the whole picture?

I always assume the effects are minimal because I run on mid range settings and have many effects off to keep the frames decent in a furball

No mate, even on Super Extreme Graphicsgasm mode, the turret effects are still very minimal/lackluster. Ewar effects, however, consume my entire screen, so I turn them off.
