I'm still boggled by how disappointed people are. It was never not a wow clone... The previews from every gaming site said it was the same ole song and dance with voice acting and star wars slapped on... Were so many of you star wars fanbois that you didnt see through it... or did just that many people not do their research? (******* Christ on a stick every day star wars game is the same in terms of content. Fight Rancor, fight a jedi, fight a boba fett look alike, have a snarky character and some droid sidekick, have a Han solo character... Put a wookie in there somewhere...have a battle in space.) Don't believe me? Go back look up all the starwars games for the past decade and view what levels they have in them. All the same. (Oh yeah have hoth or cloud city level)

Hell I heard it actually had quite the bugless/servers not exploding launch. Which for MMO's is generally good...then they squash the bugs...then they add new content. So far the they've followed the formula. I just find it odd that you people are angry at them for it. Considering they're doing exactly what they said they were going to do...

when I was watching the video I was wondering if they had pulled a star trek online. hyped it up forever, then made a massive flop that might hang on for a few months to a year before going F2P.

EA never goes f2p do they? they just let them die or shut down. As for STO I must have missed the hype on that one, I was hyped about it back when I used to talk to the devs that were orginally making the game, then that studio flopped, game as well and cryptic "saved" it from not even being released. I was under the impression everyone knew it was to be a flop, I never got it and did not bother now when it is free even and I am a trekki :P somewhat.

People are not disappointed because it's a WoW clone, they're disappointed because it's a really poor one.

They haven't squashed the bugs, they haven't added content (Unless you count finishing a dungeon they kept in the game at release despite how broken and incomplete it was). Even if they do both of these, which they likely will, their mechanics are absolutely horrible, which is the main problem. They appear to be rotten to the core because said core appears to have no idea what the **** they're doing.

Their game engine is terrible, like looking at KOTOR 1& 2 and say "hey let's take this and add thousands of people into it and a jump function!!!" If not for patches+cheats and mods I would not be able to finish either of those games, same goes for Skyrim, because of bugs and gamebreaking problems.

What BW did was forget the step of making a game and settled with only making a license deal.

I remember seeing a post from one of the forum members saying "I wish there was a Jedi trick for talking to girls :(".
I laughed a lot harder than I should have . . .

You do know their engine doesn't support rollbacks, right? That is why when players asked for rollbacks they weren't listened to.

lol, stanry rue ding dong bannu is the funniest Lol

David gaider and oh somany other funny BW personalities.

Also button awesome is funny. To be honest, the whole thing is just a joke now, a running gag. I have buyers remorse and feel sad that this game turned out to be what it is, but now it is just funny, especially their fans the biodrones are even more funny than MW3 vs BF3 or even 360 vs PS3 fanboys. They do remind me a little of Wii fanboys back in the day that said HD TV is stupid and no one notices a difference because of how the eye was built...

Would not surprise me, but I see worse problems than that or did see when I played. It honestly has the feel in everyway of being a bug ridden single player RPG engine like old kotor games or even bethesdas games and then forced to handle a multiplayer enviroment. It is not gamebreaking for a singleplayer RPG, especiallywhen we got tools, console, cheats and mods. But in a multiplayer game it is gamebreaking.

Same with RIFT and any other P2P MMO out there. Damn Dinosaurs. They should go extinct!!! Except EVE/CCP I think they have enough pumps and people willing to help them stay afloat until the moment they decide to go AWESOME again.

(goes back to play Evochron Mercenary)

RIFT is awesome. Dont know what you are talking about there.

Wow, well, good for you, I found it to be totally DULL, boring and repetitive, I even hear people shouting they loved how they had found a perfect POLISHED WOW CLONE 2.0 to play with ...

I went from level 1 to 50 in 2 weeks, made R3 PVP and managed to experience all instances save the final dragon raid ... The moment I realized I had to farm plaques over and over and over again and they "$%!$&$ rifts and then rifts finally died since no one was doing them I was like, woa, I have been killing stuff over and over for 13 years since my days in EleMud, UO, EQ1, EQ2, CoH-CoV, TR, MO, WAR, VG, LOTRO, DDO and about 10 random more mmo's ... No really, after all this time they still do the same CRAP OVER AND OVER? So they did what? made a server jump system, retweaked rifts, blah blah, just dressing to the random plain cake.

In all these years EVE is the only MMO I know of that does things diff (real time skills, no avatars, everything is just empty space, etc) , meh, even Asheron's Call , which is still alive tried to do something different (you can like dodge incoming missile fire by just strafing and a bunch of random skills to mix and match for your leisure, something like that with a newer look might be interesting) ... why oh why everybody keeps doing OVER AND OVER the same wasted bunch of a crap leveling template.

I mean, from my geek background of Tabletop RPG's I have experienced how a lot of systems have tried over the years to evolve, and tabletop gaming is a minuscule market, yet they keep expanding upon it. Why %^!$#^$#^$#^MMO's have to be so stupidly STALE?

Rigid Level/Xp templates are like basic Dungeons and Dragons leveling in the 1st Revised Edition back in the late 70's.

I have seen skill up based systems, raw point allocation then upgrade by use in session or out of session, building skill trees that expand as you build upon basic roots, finesse systems that despite the amount of skills make you as fragile as a level 1 char yet wise skill use makes you harder to hit/engage, mechanic add-ons that affects overall skill use like madness, recharging, psychology, etc, modular build up of a character template that lets you customize on the fly without use of gear as the main enhancer of skills, systems where gear is non existent as it boils down to a prop , card based system that use randomness of deck selection as modifiers, deck building strategies that rely on cards to explain the story, hybrid of card decks plus random die mechanics, specialized die (beyond basic d20/d12/d10/d8/d6/d4) system that relies on special characterss in generic d8s/d10s, warhammer like systems of throngs of D6s and no leveling but permanent enhancements as campaign progresses, Second by Second systems of Initiative in systems that demand more logical thinking that dice rolling, generic d100s systems that rely on situational modifiers over extensive tables, pre-created large template chars that can be attuned to smaller sets of templates to create a whole and ON AND ON AND ON ...

In MMO terms, the market is still in practically 1981 Tabletop RPG ERA with hardcoded XP amount = levels, gear progression that adds raw 1 to X bonus to a specific action or set of actions, raw stat buffing and GOLD as the standard currency as the TOP GROSSING WESTERN MMO in the WORLD.

NO REALLY WTF?

WTF???????????????????? Ugh

After 30+ years I have seen ALL KINDS of "leveling systems" and I can't simply understand why no one dares to be different ... I know I know, money talks, blah blah, but seriously, with the trend of Indy gaming resurfacing (as the wave of more indy games coming out keeps growing) I think some fat wallet fool can be coerced into investing in something else than the damn wow clone template.

No really, why are we still stuck in the 80's?

The stupid voiceover madness makes me remember when AD&D Second Edition launched it's starter set with a VOICEOVER CD ( TSR # 1135 Big Black Box with Audio CD) to add more "feeling" to the game ... yet game was still the same with polished rules based upon the same template and redubbed 2nd EDITION!!! omg wowowowowooww! , so in MMO terms this is how I see SWTOR.

Ugh.

Anyone hailing an mmo as AVANT GARDE in the year 2012 that uses the same mechanics of YORE as WOW is either deluded, completely delusional, naive, NEW to the genre or plain conformist or simply has tastes I can't begin to fathom at all FROM MY SIDE OF THE ARGUMENT. I'm not trolling, or flaming nor insulting ... I just can't understand.

Oh wait, I get it, they into VINTAGE!!!!!!! Ahhhhhh ... everything is clear now, yeah, vintage fetish, I can understand that, silly me.
I retract then my earlier statement, I wasnt aware the whole MMO market catered to the vintage fetish. Woa!

Honestly, the 1980's called, and the year 2004 is busy waiting.

ugh ... my heard hurts nao Cry

Damn "Vintagers" ruining my game Lol
