Just an idea that came to me for a new kind of shiptype / warfare / logistics.
(haven't seen a similar idea so far, but sorry if it appears to be already existing)

The basic idea is a module that allows to drain shield or eat armor from your oponent and add it to your own ship, perhaps combined with minor other offensive power. The type will be race dependend of course.
It seems a powerfull feature, but that isn't necessarily so. If every race can only use one of the two types, you can have like a ship that eats your armor before anything even happens to your shield, but still relying on friends to take your shield aswell.

Maybe it should have like the tractor beam restriction of only one module on a target, but with 5 such modules fitted jumping into a gatecamp enhances you long enough to stay alive till backup arrives, because you can drain / eat from 5 enemies. And ofcourse once they're out of armor/shield, the module doesn't do anything anymore, making you vulnerable again.
The total ship can then be combined with some logistics like energy transfer to your team, because it isn't able to kill things on it's own with only the mentioned modules. Or give it a decent drone bay / couple of gun slots for some offensive power.

It's a basic idea, but I think it can add alot of fun / diversity to the game and some basics for a new ship type. I have no idea how hard it will be to implement. It might give the gang warfare a nice boost too because fights will be bigger if a ship can hold on long enough to wait for backup. And maybe it can have some purpose in any PVE aswell.

The effectiveness can be dependend on the distance you are from another ship, making close range more effective than long range draining, which will give the module the capability to be used on longer ranges but with similar fall-off effects as guns.

So let me know what you guys think!

I've seen this suggested before and the consensus seems to be 'just use a nos and a shield booster/repper'
