Video Hardware Acceleration Required

My EVE install has mysteriously stopped working, and I'm looking for some ideas on how to diagnose what's stopping it from starting.

I'm on a iMac Core 2 Extreme 2.8GHz with ATI Radeon 2600 HD, MacOS 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard). There were not any system updates or config changes which coincide with it failing, and my machine seems to be generally working ok, just EVE now fails to start. I've used the EVE patch tool to ensure that the client should be good, it doesn't report any issues.

EVE was working just fine, but now just gives a very unhelpful window with the following, making no real attempt to start, no real diagnostics to look at:

Video Hardware Acceleration Required

Video hardware acceleration is currently disabled due to safe mode operation or a driver error.

Please ensure you have a working OpenGL Hardware Renderer and try again.

Sad

Edit:

Now fixed after a fair bit of pain. It looks like Apple's "Quartz Extreme" driver wasn't loading all of a sudden (and I really don't have anything which would explain why that suddenly happened, as there had not been any system changes which could even remotely explain it). Fixed by re-installing Apple's latest "Combo" update: MacOSXUpdCombo10.6.8.dmg

Cool
