Non-capital Carriers?

Just something I personally would love to see.
Maybe battleship-sized ships that can field more than 5 drones, but cannot use turrets/bays?

Look at the Dominix and Ishtar.

Back in the "old days" battleships could launch more than 5 drones. The lag became so bad that CCP put a hard physical limit on how many drones could be fielded (via the skill "Dones" as well as drone bandwidth on the ships themselves) and compensated by creating the skill "Drone Interfacing"... which essentially allows you to field 10 drones with only 5.
Droneboats like the Dominix and Ishtar take this a bit further by having a +10% per level damage bonus, which at level 5 of (racial) battleship and cruiser (respectively) allows you to effectively have 15 drones.

The reason Carriers do not have this "limitation" is because CCP never thought that there would be as many carriers as there are today. The same goes for Supercarriers.
Give it some more time (when more people have them and field them) and I'm quite certain that a similar thing will be instituted.

Ah, I didn't even think of the lag it would create.
But then I was assuming a ship like this would only serve in a support role when it comes to pvp.

Know this... players are notorious for taking things to excess. Make a "support ship" that is "good enough" at it's job and people will find ways to "abuse it" in ways you never thought they would.

Off the top of my head... I could see a "support" droneboat (especially one with RR abilities) to be formed into a "pantheon" fleet... repping each other like logis while dealing DPS.

I brought up escort carriers before I think it ultimatly got shot down as unnessecary and the role I intetionally built it for anti-fighter was nullified in the super carrier nerf.

The thing is though if you make a pocket carrier you have to be careful on whos toes you step on. For example your mini triage idea would squash the poor logistics pilots (althouth they do need a large remote platform imo)

It's not like they'd be actual carriers with buttloads of HP and fielding swarms of fighters =P

It's far from a perfect idea obviously, it would need tweaking. But it's still something I personally would love to see.

Ive always liked the idea of battleship sized (escort?) carriers.

So yes, free bump, give this man a job etc.
