Cargo + cheap + widely sold (because noobs use those).

btw, 1337 alts train up and cyno with noobship. Be 1337.Cool

Historical reasons. And they can be used with Cyno gen L1 with only the cyno gen on ship as have rather large cargo bay and enough power grid.

My alts tend to prefer Magnates - but they were added to game a lot later than Kestrels - at least the ones we can build ourselves.

Also, Kestrels have enough mid slots and fitting stats to have 2 webs. Double webbing a capital will help it warp out pretty quickly.

I prefer using rookie ships as MAPC and cyno modules are easier to haul around than frigate hulls, and rookie ships are ignored by some killboards.
