I am considering buying a custom built gaming rig.

My question is to those of you with more computer knowledge than me, consider yourselves part of the 99% (in a good way ).

Does Eve benefit from having gpus in a dual or tri sli configuration? I will be using 2 24" monitors. I have heard that some games don't use or cannot be used with SLI.

Thanks in advance

Most last two generations of upper mid range gpus from either side will run eve just fine, in my personal experiene make sure to have araound 512MB of video ram pr client you intend to run at the same time.

dont think you would find anything with less than a gig in the cards intended for gaming.

as for Multicard settips I have no personal experience but havent heard about any major issues with eve, if you do run into issues you should be able to turn this off in control panel somewhere.

As for the linked thread, that seems to be mostly posted in 2008 and the past 3+ years they have been growing multi gpu tech quite abit and even then the biggest nay sayers where pissy kids who couldnt get their parents to spend two grand on gpu's.

I used to run a pair of nVidia GTX8800s and found that the system would run quite decently with pretty much everything set to medium levels. I currently run with a pair of GTX570s and noticed a significant improvement. The 8800s worked just fine, but when I jumped up to 3 clients, things started to drag, so had to get new hardware.

I don't run in SLI mode as I use a quad monitor setup. I could switch to SLI mode just to see what its like, but, meh. Three clients already push the CPU to its limits pretty hard while in space in a mission, or roaming, or whatever. My bottleneck now is certainly the CPU/MB.
